40m is mine mate, sorry. I'll consider paying for your airfare though.

Anyway, I would have thought getting into the US and being allowed to stay was somewhat relevent to "Going to Vegas".

Cool thread, am actually going to Vegas myself in a few weeks. Doing the US for 5 weeks from June 3 but will be in Vegas for a week in late June, during the WSOP too so should be a good time to be in town.

In light of this development, I just might alter my dates to ensure I'm in Vegas for the WSOP ME final table, just means I miss out on an NFL game in Arizona. Maybe I'll be able to watch it live, although that would probably be a bit boring.

After some stuff I've been reading lately, I'm not surprised about this.

US clamp down on Aussie travellers

Now online visa registration required for US

Australians and other travellers who do not need visas to enter the United States will be required to register online with the US government at least three days before they visit, a security regulation set to begin next year.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff will announce the rule tomorrow, according to a government official who asked not to be identified because the announcement had not yet been made.

The rule was first reported by the Financial Times today.

Required online registration will begin in January and will be valid for a two-year period.

Those needing to register will be travellers from the 27 countries whose citizens are not required to obtain visas for US entry. The counties include those in most of western Europe as well as Andorra, Australia, Brunei, Japan, New Zealand and Singapore. Eight other countries - the Czech Republic, Hungary and South Korea among them - are expected to be admitted to the visa waiver program.

When the Homeland Security Department began discussing the online registration rule last year, European businesses worried that business travel could be impeded.

So we go off and fight a stupid war with them, but now need to register to travel there

Its absoloutely absurd, Im sick of having to finger/eye scan on the way in every year, not to mention they have the longest lines of any country I've seen to get into the country through customs.

Not surprised this happened.

Someone once told me to take some vegemite and declare that you are carrying food stuffs so you get escorted off to a different queue, supposedly avoiding the long lines. Don't know if that works.

Suggestions over at 2p2 that the best way to get money to and from Vegas is to wire it to a casino. Apparently the fee is nominal, I'll look into it. I might be taking over 10k, which personally I think is way way more than I need, although I could spend up to 1k on a new backgammon board.

What's the appeal of Las Vagas? Krystal's T's! (the shoot)

Looks like I might be booking into Excalibur for my first Vegas visit. Rest of my family will be there too. Should be ok as it's close to MGM which supposedly is good for NL200.

Thinking further up the strip would be ideal, I don't know.

When I go back to Vegas, I will probably stay further up. The backgammon tournament is at the Riviera (near Circus Circus).

The end near the MGM is very...well boring. Theres not much up there except for the M&M store and a big foodcourt and construction on one side, and the other side has New York New York, other casinos and more construction. I'd prefer to be in the heart near Caesars Paris, Bellagio and others as you can get access up and down the strip as well as down to the Rio, etc.

I found walking from the MGM to Caesars took about 15-25 minutes each time depending on amount of pedestrians, and just got really boring after a while.

not knowing the financial situation of r+b doesnt matter where u stay.
having said that i agree down the mgm end there's not much, but its better than the other end (stratosphere etc). i stayed at new york new york, it's good for sports stuff. but yeah the s**t happens in the middle with bellagio, caesars etc.

if you really wanna splash out stay at wynns, frickin brilliant (stayed at the macau one).

the walk from one end to the other took it out of me!
