Sorry guys but I'm losing tracks here. Just looking at the NEW 2002 fixture.. We play

5 X Home games at Colonial

Don't play our first Home Game at The "G" till RND 10 and only play a total of 1 home games there.

1X in Sydney (against Sydney again)

3 X at Manuka

Where do we North Melbourne call home Now???

It certainlly aint the MCG anymore.

Curious.

Rd 1 Footy Park?
This can't be correct!

The PA supporters are not as bad as the Crow equivalent.

Think of Victoria Park (distant relations of the PA stereotype)
Windy Hill / Showers stand crowd on a bad day.

Come sit with me and the little bloke behind the goals.

We have been spoilt in our earlier years in the City of Churches.Fancy being entertained in the members reserve sipping Chardonnay and the like.

The Roo's supporters that came to the Crows game last year (and the Ansett Cup Semi V PA) reminded me very much of the true blue (and white) supporters that went to Arden St when our team played there.

i think we should stop canberra stop sydney like we have say 2 games for colonial and the rest at MCG or where sav and spider wants to play

A few year ago, someone from the MCG or MCC (I think it was Dr Lill or should that be dill) said that North Melbourne were no longer tenants of the MCG.

Yes, looks like it's this one that is causing the confusion. The AFL fixture I printed from the website shows this as an MCG game. Today's newspapers confirm this.

The question remains - where is our home ground.
The other question is - are 6 home games in Melbourne (7 if you count the game at the OO, where I will never go) enough for loyal members/supporters ?

The question of loyalty may also be asked of the administration. Are the board respecting the loyalty of members by offering six home games b/w CS and the MCG ?

Next year will the fourth year that we will play home games away from Melbourne. Next years draw only contains one game that is likley to be a blockbuster, the Rd 10 game against Essendon at the MCG.

I think it may become increasingly harder for our marketing team to sell memberships, if the club do not consider a significant reduction in the price of memberships. I have been a Pagans Patron for many years. I wait curiously for 2002 membership packages.

A couple of realities to keep in mind.
The first is, that unless you get a blockbuster at the MCG (and since we proved that Friday nights could work, every other bastard has taken that spot), you lose a truckload of money by opening the gates at the "G". I think the cut off point is 35,000 before you start making money. Without blockbuster games that is very difficult.
With more flexible packages we are able to see 14 games in Melbourne. Yes, not as good as other Melbourne - based teams, but I regard this as tenable if not ideal.
Could we get more members by playing no games in Canberra or Sydney? Probably
Could we get big enough crowds at all those games to make them pay their way? Unlikely
So like most football decisions these days (e.g keep Rocca, keep Martyn, play in Canberra, play in Orange jumpers) money is a key consideration. Without it we cannot survive in any form. (Yes, I know, we should do better out of the newe TV deal, but the reality is that this alone will not save a Club).

I am prepared to cocede some games in Canberra, build a smallish addition to our supporter base there, enjoy the fruits of sponsorship of these games, and be able to watch the Roos 14/15 times in Melbourne each year.
