SYDNEY v ESSENDON

DYSON HEPPELL (Ess) charged with a first offence of making negligent contact with umpire RAY CHAMBERLAIN in Q2. Heppell took the early guilty plea and received the penalty of a $900 fine.

RICHMOND v GWS GIANTS

BACHAR HOULI (Rch) charged with a first offence of wrestling RHYS PALMER (GWS) in Q1. Houli took an early guilty plea and a $900 fine.

REECE CONCA (Rch) charged with a Level Four striking offence – intentional, medium impact, high contact – for chasing down and hitting DEVON SMITH (GWS) in the back of the head with his elbow in Q2. While Conca has no good or bad record the Level Four activation penalty calls for a three-match suspension. Conca took the early guilty plea which reduced the penalty by 25% to a two-game suspension.

NORTH MELBOURNE v GEELONG

STEVE JOHNSON (Gee) charged with a Level One misconduct (kneeing) – reckless, low impact, body contact – against SCOTT THOMPSON (NM) in Q1. Due to a poor record a one-game penalty will be imposed, even with an early guilty plea. Geelong sought the adjudication of the Tribunal. The three-man panel heard the argument for an hour on Tuesday night and brought in a verdict that Johnson was guilty of misconduct but the force used was deemed to be negligible. Johnson is free to play on Saturday.

GOLD COAST v ST KILDA

JACK NEWNES (StK) charged with a first offence of wrestling TOM LYNCH (GC) in Q1. Newnes took an early guilty plea and a $900 fine.

JAEGER O’MEARA (GC) charged with a first offence for engaging in a melee in Q1. O’Meara took an early guilty plea and a $900 fine.

DION PRESTIA (GC) charged with a first offence for engaging in a melee in Q1. Prestia took an early guilty plea and a $900 fine.

TOM LIBERATORE (WB) charged with a first offence of making negligent contact with umpire JUSTIN SCHMITT in Q1. Liberatore took an early guilty plea and accepted a $1950 fine.
