It’s pretty simple J.J. Watt is without a doubt the Most Valuable Player in the league. No other player comes close to recreating what he does on the football field. You can throw a blanket over Brady, Rodgers and Manning and all 3 would be the right answer, but what Watt is doing is unbelievable. He’s quite simply a B-E-A-S-T!
Thursday Night Football, a battle between two AFC East rivals who are looking to stake a claim at the division title. Unfortunately for Buffalo their offence couldn’t match it with Miami and Tannehill who’s starting to live up to his potential. The problem for Buffalo is that their offence is utterly useless without a running game and their very very good defence just couldn’t win it for them this time. (9-22) Dolphins
It was a cellar dwelling NFC North matchup between the Vikings and Bears at Chicago. The Bears hadn’t won at home all season making the natives rather restless and after the debacle from last week’s blowout the Bears needed a win badly. Luckily only average Jay showed up as the Bears scraped out a win finally at home. (13-21) Bears
It was the J.J. Watt show and boy when he goes off he makes it spectacular. Watt caught another TD pass, recorded a strip sack, 3 tackles for a loss and recovered a fumble as he absolutely terrorised the Browns. The Browns have had a resurgent season but they need to keep winning as the AFC North is so close a slipup can send you from the top to the bottom in a week. (23-7) Texans
In another NFC South suckfest Atlanta travelled to Carolina. When a team can be on top of a division at 4-6 without a win against non-divisional opponents your division is bad. A blocked field goal as time expired ended the season for the Panthers who’ve never been able to get going this season. (19-17) Falcons
The Saints at home are supposed to be a tough ask especially with Brees and Payton is charge. Well the Bengals came in and absolutely destroyed them. It was a completely different Andy Dalton who had a 2.0 passer rating last week (yes that’s correct) who came in and played his best game of the season notching a passer rating of 143.9. It really is any given Sunday in the NFL. (27-10) Bengals
In the fight for the number one pick Washington did a marvellous job of creeping that one step closer. Tampa proved they aren’t completely tanking and Mike Evans went over 200 yards in a monster game from the rookie wide receiver. (27-7) Buccaneers
If only St. Louis could play like this ever week. The bipolar Rams seem to rise to the occasion and at the moment no occasion is bigger than a rampaging Broncos offence. The Rams didn’t feel that way as their defence had a great day against Peyton who unusually for this season threw more interceptions than touchdowns. (7-22) Rams
Don’t expect the 49ers or Giants to be in the playoffs. Eli threw 5 interceptions and the 49ers still only managed to win by 6 points. Kaepernick after signing a big contract in the off-season hasn’t lived up to the expectations. This could be a game that sees both head coaches and both QBs leaving their respective teams at the end of the season. (16-10) 49ers
It was Jamaal Charles v Marshawn Lynch as the two best running backs in the NFL faced off in a game where in a pass happy NFL it was a game where the best running team would win. Alex Smith is still yet to throw a TD to his wide receivers and Seattle lost one they could ill afford to after the 49ers win and the Cards being ahead. (20-24) Chiefs
The Raiders extended their losing streak to 16. The Chargers on the other hand snapped a 3 game losing streak and they are lucky they were playing the Raiders as that would’ve been extended to 4 games against any other team. (6-13) Chargers
In what could be a preview of the NFC Championship game the Lions and Cardinals faced off in a showing of whom had the best defence. On this occasion it proved to be the Cardinals as they held the Lions without a TD for the first time this season and the offence scored two of their own to improve the Cards record to 9-1 their best 10 game record since 1948 and put two games between themselves and the Seahawks and 49ers. This was one the Lions couldn’t afford to drop with the Packers nipping at their heels. (6-14) Cardinals
In what was supposed to be a game of the NFC’s best offenses it seemed Philadelphia left theirs at home as the Packers burst out of the blocks and ended their second game in a row by half-time. Julius Peppers returned an interception for 52 yards, Micah Hyde returned a punt and Casey Hayward returned a fumble in a day where nothing went right for the Eagles. The only bright spot came in the form of rookie wide receiver Jordan Matthews who had a very nice day. (20-53) Packers
If the Eagles/Packers game was the NFC offensive showcase then the same can be said for the Patriots and the Colts. It certainly was that from a Patriot perspective as the Pats utterly blew away the Colts with undrafted rookie Jonas Gray rushing for 201 yards and 4 TDs as the Colts had no answer to the Patriots. The Steelers can thank a career day from Le’Veon Bell for saving them what would’ve been an incredibly embarrassing loss to the Titans. Mettenberger put in his best effort so far in his short career, but it wasn’t enough as the Steelers managed to scrape by and put this effort behind them as they look towards next week. (27-24) Steelers
