Finally after weeks of listening to ESPN talk about Michael Sam and Johnny Manziel only for one to be cut and signed to Dallas (the better option would be to remain a FA) and Manziel losing the starting job to Hoyer we can finally resume a normal course of action.

Already week 1 has lived up to expectations, highlights, lowlights, big plays, injuries, hopes and dreams shattered and expectations come tumbling down and that was only after the Thursday night match up after the Seahawks laid a beat down on this writers beloved Packers. (16-36) Seahawks

Sunday was the day that everyone was looking forward to with 13 match ups on offer and depending on your location beer or coffee was the drink of choice or in GG’s case I believe coffee liqueur.

Matt Ryan led a dominant performance against the Saints to cause what really was a shock win against one of the NFCs heavy weights throwing for a franchise record of 448yds and 3TDs. Matt Bryant nailed not one but two 50yd+ field goals to not only set up the tie but the win in overtime after Colston was stripped by Moore and the fumble was recovered by the Falcons. (34-37) Falcons

The Vikes beat up on an underwhelming Rams side that has now lost 2 QBs in 2 weeks, with Cordarrelle Patterson showing huge improvement in his 2nd year making him even more of a weapon, which this writer cashed in on in fantasy just saying. (34-6) Vikes

Pittsburgh nearly let a 24 point lead slip to the Browns yes that’s right the Cleveland Browns and if it wasn’t for a Suisham 41yd field goal this would’ve been embarrassing for Steeler fans. (27-30) Steelers

So if I told you a Jaguar team led by Chad Henne went to Lincoln Field and was up half-time 17-0 against the Eagles you would’ve had me institutionalised but that’s exactly what happened. In other news Foles’ fluke season last year is starting to return to a normal level. But that Eagles offence still looks scary when it gets going. (17-34) Eagles

Apparently the Raiders played the Jets. Something happened and there were plays but yeah. Seriously though Carr showed promise and Ivory channelled his inner Beast Mode for a 71yd TD run but both these teams have huge weaknesses. (14-19) Jets

With Ray Rice rightfully being banished from the Ravens and the NFL, Flacco was forced to throw a whopping 62 times and when that happens you’re never going to win a football match. The AFCN looks kind of weak this year which is a rather strange occurrence to what we are used to seeing, with the Bengals being the only team likely to make the play-offs. (23-16) Bengals

The Bills came up with one of the shocks of the round upsetting the Bears in overtime thanks to some brilliant efforts from old man Fred Jackson. Jay Cutler showed he was still Jay Cutler throwing from some beautiful passes then going derp mode and doing Jay things. The Bills are on the rise and that can only be a good thing. (23-20) Bills

The Redskins suck, RGIII sucks, JJ Watt is a beast and one man wrecking machine. (6-17) Texans

The Titans may finally be getting their shit together and it came together in spectacular fashion against the Chiefs who gave Smith a big contract over the off-season only for him to throw 3 INTs. (26-10) Titans

The Dolphins became the first team since 2003 to beat the Patriots in week 1 with fumbles galore the Fins overpowered the Pats in the second half scoring 23 unanswered points, too hopefully make the AFC that little bit more interesting. (20-33) Dolphins

So a world actually exists where Derek Anderson can hit a target who knew? The Panthers offence surprisingly played well against what I thought was one of the best front 7s in the NFL belonging to the Bucs who under new coach Lovie Smith barely put up a whimper. (20-14) Panthers

Unsurprisingly Tony Romo threw 3 INTs and Dallas still suck, but their cheerleaders look good. The 49ers didn’t make any mistakes and forced 4 Dallas turnovers, which will keep the 9ers locker room happy if reports about player unrest about Harbaugh are to be believed. (28-17) 49ers

It was a tale of two halves in Denver, first half was the Peyton show with Pey-Pey throwing 3 TDs to Julius Thomas and the second half was the cave man’s as Luck turned it on and channelled his inner Peyton. It wasn’t enough though and Peyton joins Favre as the only man to beat all NFL teams, which means he is old, like really old. (24-31) Broncos

The Lions dominated an insipid Giants team which if this trend continues could see Coughlin and Manning run out of New York. Are the Lions an NFC smokey or will they implode like normal? (14-35) Lions

The final game of the week was a thriller between the Chargers and Arizona that saw the Card just manage to outlast the Chargers and start their season on a positive note. All while missing Mathieu, Washington and Dockett from the defence. (17-18) Cardinals

Things to look forward to in Week 2:

1. How the Packers, Saints and Pats respond
2. Will Juggalo Balla pick a team or just be a tool?
3. Watching the Seahawks plough through teams
4. Which Packer will go on IR next?
5. Which NFL player will get arrested next?
