For anyone who bagged the Showdown...

Re: Best game in a few years Good on you mate; but would you rate that game better than The 2006 Grand Final?

For anyone who bagged the Showdown...

Re: Best game in a few years Magnificent spectacle and contest...one of the better games in the last couple of years, but not necessarily the best.

What do we take out of today's game?

I was watching the game on FOXTEL and I can conclusively say that he did not run across the mark (not even close.) The commentators suspected that it was for backchat because there was no other possible reason for the penalty.

What do we take out of today's game?

Obviously; it was good that we could still get the points playing well below our best football. However; I thought we overused the ball terribly today. If we play that indirectly in a Final; we will probably pay the price. Another positive that I take away from this game is that our team is...

    Geelong vs Hawthorn

Let's not kid ourselves...if Geelong and Hawthorn played next week it would be an extremely tight contest. A bit harsh...it's not as consistent as they would like it to be. That's a good point and it may be the difference between the teams at the moment. Maybe; but who knows? The Hawks'...

    Expansion Propose A Name

There was also a baseball team in the now defunct Australian Baseball League (ABL); in the early 1990's called The 'Daikyo Dolphins' (later became The 'Gold Coast Dolphins'.) This club was a bit of a financial basket case. Usually in sports that are franchised (like the AFL has sadly become)...

Kennelly to quit Sydney - Return to Ireland

I wish Tadhg all the best for the future. He has been a great contributor to The Sydney Football Club and was a big part of the team that won the Premiership. I hope his All-Ireland title dreams come true. :thumbsu:

Carlton tells the AFL to stick clash jumpers

I agree. It looks good and it is the exact opposite of their home strip; thus serving its purpose as a Clash Strip. :thumbsu:

Carlton tells the AFL to stick clash jumpers

In an ideal world each club could wear its traditional strip every week; but the simple fact is that there is a clash between many strips. I agree that the mismatch of Clash Strips that are around is ridiculous. At the same time; I think it would be unfair that only some clubs have to change...

Players who had it but then lost it

Yes good memory GS; it was Andy Collins who tackled him from behind as Hall was running across his half-forward line towards goal (Old Ponsford Stand end.) As they dropped to the ground; they were still in an upright position and Hall's leg got buckled underneath him. From memory he required a...

Players who had it but then lost it

Apologies if he has already been mentioned but I would add Tony Hall (Hawthorn 1988-1993 and Adelaide 1994-1995); a champion who never really returned to the top after a serious knee injury (when playing for South Australia vs. Victoria at the MCG in 1989.)

Do you go to neutral games?

Yes for sure...often you can actually enjoy the game more without the emotional attachment of barracking for your club.
