On a more serious note gentlemen. The AJAX Football Club and Amateur Football in general, has lost one of its stalwarts, John Brustman (Mazal on Big Footy) after a short illness. John was an AJAX life member and has had a continuous involvement with the club and the VAFA since 1957. He goal...
Recession hits Amos
Not even the Rudd stimulus package has been able to help the wealthier Amateur clubs with Liston Trophy winner and Sandringham champion Ezra Poyas signing with StKilda City for a reported $1000 a game. Perhaps it was the lure of Acland St and the latte set. Ironically...
When I heard Kelly Underwood on the footy last night I thought my TV had sh.t itself. Great looker and good for interviews but no good as a commentator. At one stage, 5 Geelong players had handled the ball but not one of them was mentioned by name. If she is to succeed, she needs to bring her...
The VAFA have changed the rules so many times it's hard to keep up. In the 80's, players moving from the VFL to the VAFA had to stand out for 1 year. Then by some remarkable turn of events that rule was scrapped. 'Amateur' sport may be played on Mars cause it sure aint played here on Earth.
Perhaps that is the 'rub' of the elite competition, but it hardly makes for a competition, as such, rather a talent showcase for AFL recruiters, and nothing more.
Scribe, the TAC comp is infact a talent show for the AFL. The private school boys have to represent their school first and their TAC...
Brian, I could have kicked myself when I activated the "Submit Reply" button knowing I had not checked my spelling, but I knew I could count on you to correct me. By the way, the correct terminology is "who applied" not "whom applied" in this instance.
For the record, I have never stated I have...
Mazal, this is for your eyes only. Please don’t repeat it to anyone.
1. Yes I do know someone at Carlton, infact my contact is a former Carlton captain. 2. My pub of choice is Khyatts which is Haileburys favorite watering hole.
3. My girlfriend works at a café in Brighton known to be...
Has there ever been a Brownlow medalist play in the Ammos let alone a bloke who has won 2 of them? Signed, sealed & delivered. Robert Harvey will play for Hailebury in 2009. His commitment to Carlton (apart from training) is for 8 games during the year which may not require him to attend any...
Thanks for the mail Mazal. I see your club is playing its home games back at Albert Park. Have Parks Victoria fixed that sh*t hole? or does your new coach think you will have some sort of home ground advantage even though you havent played there for 5 years. Just for the record, can you give the...
The Dragons are almost unique with the number of Privates on their list and they must play school footy first. Many a good footballer has missed playing consistant TAC football playing under Ossies rules. Wonder if things will change now he has gone to the Demons (AFL)
Posting at 10pm Mazal, a bit late for an old bloke like you. How do you define success? The Dragons gauge success by the number of players they can get drafted not by the score board or premierships. Its just the way it is down there with the Private School boys in and out of the side all...
Actually he coached the Dragons for 6 years and had a couple of good ones. 2004 was his best season and could have gone to the GF but for the politics that hampers that club. Did manage to coach some 19 drafted players including a couple of handy ones in Ball and A kid named Judd.
