Video Highlights Showdown goal winner: what goal was better? Dawson v Cook

According to AFL XScore (unofficial): Cook's goal had an expected score of 2.25 Dawson's was 3.11 Cook's was more difficult and therefore probably more impressive. Though Dawson had no other option than to kick from where he did, where the 100% rational player in Cook's position may have been...

    Game Day R9 v Richmond

Nick Murray was clearly picked to play forward to settle an argument right?

    Player Watch Luke Pedlar

This is the big myth with Pedlar. He is notably poor at providing pressure (this year he trails Taylor Walker for pressure acts per game) and always has been. Pedlar picks and chooses which contests he thinks he can win, commits 110% to those he can, and stays out of those he can't. That's...

Murphy averaged 11.5 disposals a game over his career. (Pedlar averages 9.25 FWIW)

Review R8: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Port Adelaide

The chest mark he took versus Murray late in the game was the defenders equivalent of Rioli vs Luke Thompson in 2012.

Would the last Port goal have made the distance if the Crows defenders didn't give up on trying to get back to the line?

    Game Day Showdown LIV

Probably. Commentators didn't think so. But he would have been right at the limit in a straight line, and ran a zig zag path. And like his more famous incident. He was in an area of the ground with lines (centre circle to edge of the square is 20m) to make the umpires job easier

Preview R8: Changes vs. Port Adelaide

All the unforced changes are good potentially defendable IMHO. If they are going to ease Curtin back into the side via the forward line rather than putting him where he actually plays well, then I would rather they just kept Maley in tbh. edit: Apparently I didn't notice T. Murray keeping his...

    Football (Round Ball) Thread...

One thing that has been lost in the excitement is that Dukuly took a hit to the head mid-2nd half, and clearly lost consciousness momentarily. This being the A-League, he played on for a while. The bye means he should have time to recover, but I haven't heard any news acknowledging this.

Review R7: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Brisbane Lions

Nick Murray has had many forward cameos over his career. The fact that he has managed a grand total of 2 goals (one of which was scored a month ago, while playing in defence) says how effective he is in the role.

Preview R8: Changes vs. Port Adelaide

The big selection issue was not replacing Neal-Bullen's role structurally. I suspect the idea was that Keays would do that, but failed completely.

The yellow card for removing your shirt is probably over 30 years old now. And its mostly to stop people wearing something controversial underneath.

    Player Watch Charlie Edwards

Edwards wasn't great. But he didn't drop off that much from his last game. If you were hopeful for the future after his last game, there's no reason not to be now. This is the problem with erasing his terrible start last match, and treating his debut as starting from his first good possession...

Review R7: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Brisbane Lions

If current trends continue. I'm predicting that during Round 10 vs North Melbourne, we will see the first time that a vocal fan publicly laments a spectacular Izak Rankine goal, because it means it delays his dropping from the side another week. But it will take a month or two of further form...

Well that was a surprising win given the circumstances. Jovanovic is a bit thick though.
