    True enough, but I would see much value in Tom being forced to stand up as the No1 forward (say with Kersten, Brown or whomever as No2) and having to take some responsibility for the "younger blokes".     As thejester said, he has a lovely pair of hands. He also looks pretty composed in traffic. Finally, he already has some captaincy experience, albeit with the willow not the sherrin, which indicates in nothing else a level head on the lad.

    I'm just a bit surprised at how few here rate Horlin-Smith at all. On what I've seen I'd have him ahead of about half the initial list just for starters (Cowan, Schroeder, Hogan, Stringer, Gillies, Walker at least). Bathie is interesting because he has really shown a bit but he is not young...
