    No, defence is absolutely vital. Pies defence is/was excellent. But if you can't score you are not beating Lions, Cats or Gold Coast to name a few in 3 or 4 consecutive finals. Lions are a far superior team than when you beat them in 2023..as are Geelong and Gold Coast....defence alone...

    I think the Pies defence is elite (injuries permitting). Moore, Howe, Maynard, Houston and Quaynor is excellent. Their midfield/wings are very good albiet overly reliant on 'golden oldies' in Pendles, Sidey and Crisp. These guys cannot continue to play to the level they have (Crisp aside)...
