    Wells' Amazing Recruiting

On the thread of Wells recruiting, my brother and I were attempting to put together a team of Geelong players who had left the club in the past decade and played with at least one senior AFL club. We were arguing about the strength and competitiveness of a team of ex-Cats. A few gaps and a...

"In 2011 Geelong have played 8 first or second year draftees" - Adelaide have played 5

Thanks for the update on Armstong. I hope he turns into the champion his early form promised. Hopefully he will light up the SANFL and get a chance to play in the big time again. Is he any chance?

"In 2011 Geelong have played 8 first or second year draftees" - Adelaide have played 5

I'm somewhat ignorant perhaps, but I've seen nothing of Tony Armstrong this year. He debuted and looked at home playing AFL - ie. talent to burn. Is he injured, out of favour or simply not getting a chance?

Preview AFL Round 15 - Geelong v Hawthorn, MCG, Saturday 10 July 2:10PM

Hawks scare the bejesus out of me. They always seem to lift for the CATS. I agree with the thesus of this thread in that Hodge seems to be the major threat to the way that the GFC play their particular brand of football. He is the player that sets the Hawks up from across halkf back whikle...

MRP / Trib. Milburn's bump and Johnson's trip

Re: Milburn's bump Cornes hit was a tad late, though textbook shirtfront. A week out I'd think.

Preview AFL Round 3 - Fremantle v Geelong, Subiaco

Re: AFL Round 3 preview - Fremantle v Geelong, Subiaco Ling will go to whoever the most damaging player on the ground is. On Monday he started on Hodge and as Mitchell was at that point BOG then the 'ginger one' moved onto Mitchell who was in turn Linged... I don't think Ling will start on...

Can both Varcoe and Duncan fit in the same 22?

Kelly is certainly among the best twenty-two. In fact he would be in the first half dozen picked each week... Varcoe will almost certainly replace Motlop so the answer to your question is YES. The question that will need to be asked in the not too distant future is "Can Stokes, Varcoe and...

    Playing Saints in MCG

Wouldn't matter if these two sides played on the moon it would still be a close match. They are so evenly matched in every aspect of the game. Both have hard in and under midfielders as well as players who can run hard and deliver well into the forward line. For either side to win it will take a...

    Tuck/Foley?

I'm amazed to see this thread. In an age where midfields need to be rotated regularly and 'in and under players' are needed to feed running midfielders Tuck and Foley are essential to the Richmond Football Club. Both have that rare commodity of almost total...

    Cameron Mooney Appreciation Thread

Mooney is great on the long lead when he pins his ears back and leads straight down the ground. A strong mark, then a dish off to running midfielders. When he plays like that and is on song Mooney is an awesome talent. Unfortunately when he is not 'on song' he ends up in the pocket chasing kicks...

Casey vs Bullants @ Visy Park

Big fan of Wheatley when he is up and running. How has he been performing in the magoos? Any chance of a seniors recall anytime soon?

    Changes V Port.

Port specialise in rebounding off the half back flank. Cats will be looking to apply pressure through the middle of the ground so can't see too many strong runners going out of the side. Players like the Burgoyne boys can carve a side up if they are given the chance. I expect to see a game of...

    The Geelong 'Malaise'

'Malaise' is not the issue I feel. I think a lot of other clubs spent the summer watching lots and lits of video of the way Geelong played footy in '07 and put together plans to prevent that signiture free flowing footy through the corridor. This year the Cat's run out of defence has been...

    Round 10 Team vs Carlton

A lot was made of the number of tackles Collingwood had last week. Byrnes, Varcoe and Stokes will provide the run and dash to break the lines and prevent the ball getting caught up in stoppages. Happy to see Rooke back in the side. He is a dangerous link man through the corridor (both...

    Collingwood Vs Geelong

I think it is important to remember that the final against Collingwood last year was played in slippery conditions as there had been a steady drizzle all afternoon. The intensity of finals football in conjunction with the moisture of the evening meant last years game was closer than it should...
