Eh, Hawthorn wore a blue, white and red heritage guernsey in 2005 and no one seemed to care. I doubt the Bulldogs of all clubs would kick up a stink. Although maybe they would, if only for their confected rivalry with the Giants.
Was really barracking for the 300 aggregate in this weekend's Southport v Frankston VFL finals match. It just fell short at 298, but still a phenomenal scoreline in 2024. From Frankston's perspective, kicking 16.7 in three quarters of football and yet still losing by 92 points is quite...
"Since 2008, Adidas has filed more than 90 lawsuits and signed more than 200 settlement agreements related to its three-stripe trademark"
They are furious defenders of their mark, particularly from rival sportswear companies.

We're going back ten...
I'm not too sure how pleased the legal team at adidas would be when they see that AFLW training jumper. Cotton On are flying a bit too close to the sun there.
It's rare you see AFL and AFLW jumpers together in the one photo. This one shows the difference in the navy blue colour between the Geelong men's and women's guernseys.
No Telstra logo, interesting.
Also the shoulders on the pride jumper look imbalanced because the red stripe in the rainbow flag just blends in to the red of the base colour. Feels like an oversight.
The 'Gus' thing is interesting but not necessarily a dead end.
Taking another look through Ancestry (at home this time, much easier), and plugging in the demographics of Thomas Clarke, 'any event' in Queenstown, Tasmania (nearest notable town to Mt Lyell) in 1910, and giving a birth year +/-10...
Super brief google search (on my phone on my lunch break, so not conducive to good genealogy!) for a “Thomas Clarke Lyell” returned this fairly likely candidate, Thomas Augustus (or Augustine) Clarke

Haha I owned that Nike Pies jacket for about three years. Wore it plenty of times to the G, although surprisingly it sold for about a 10% loss despite no deterioration in quality. Must have got them on a bad day.
Phoenix are pretty well revered in France and 'made it' around the world as talented exports, singing in English with French accents. They've been doing it for 25 years plus. Nothing second-rate about them!
I must confess I haven't seen their performance, but just commenting on their overall...
Must admit I have no idea what the expected time is here for this marathon swim. Looks like Johnson was in front an hour ago though, and still is now, so she’s clearly doing pretty well!
Gotta hand it to UCAN. They've had a wonderful few years creating some really bespoke kits. It's been a while since an AUFC kit has been purely red – right down to the monochromatic crest. I'm a fan.
Yup. I was watching the weightlifting and they pronounced the guy Erati's surname as "Eras" correctly (accounting for the fact that 'ti' = 's' in Kiribati)
And then they go and say "Kiri-bahti" straight after it! Come on, fellas.
I reckon the reason this is the case is because they don’t have a mechanism for someone to A) be watching 30 or so concurrent streams to see when an ad should be inserted, and B) have those ads specific to the country of broadcast
Which is why the replays have shit tonnes of ads placed...
I know (why are people so fixated on this?)
The biggest value has been in watching with no ads, especially as I’m often watching on an “as live” delay. I’ve tried watching back a couple of track replays on 9Now to hear Gerard’s calls and the ads are jarringly bad. I often count five unskippable...
Hocker really had the chance to run his own race with all the eyes on Inge and Kerr.
Hocker was absolutely motoring down the inside with 100m to go and would have passed Inge earlier were it not for him being cut off. I found it impressive Hocker was able to regain momentum and find the gap
