To be fair though, any decent manager would have insisted on having control when they've seen the shit show Murtough/Arnold/Woodward were running. Obviously ETH didn't do any better but at the end of the day I would have been worried about the ambitions of a manager who didn't want to wrestle...
He's one of the most technically gifted players that I've seen come through the United academy but he always looked like he'd struggle with the physicality of premier league football to me. Leaving the UK was a great move for him at the time.
I would love to see how he'd handle it now after a...
Bit of an over simplification, don't you think?
As Chef has mentioned, you can't fluke a Champions League win. Nor do honeymoon periods/new coach bounces stretch so long. Tuchel is an excellent cup manager, that should not be up for debate.
Bayern have been trending downward for a long time...
That's my concern for sure. I'd prefer someone who is more suited for that 'project' but Tuchel is the best (realistic) name we've been linked with so far.
I'd take Tuchel. His rep for being hard to work with does worry me though, and I'm not 100% convinced he's the right profile for where the team currently is. However I think he's clearly the best available candidate.
I suspect a lot of that inconsistency is a result of him never getting a rest TBF.
They say that the best ability is availability and Bruno never misses a game. For that reason alone he has to stay.
Yeah, we all would have said the same thing at the end of the 21/22 season.
IMO our improvement in ETH's first year was largely down to the signings of Licha, Casemiro, and Eriksen. Those three (alongside Bruno, Shaw, and Rashford) were our spine. If you look at that spine this season we've...
Hence why I'm interested to see how he would manage at a more stable club with more professional players at his disposal.
I'm curious as to how much of that failure was due to United just being a shambles and him not having any authority to make lasting changes in an interim capacity....or...
If this eventuates it will be interesting to see how he gets on.
I wouldn't read too much into his disastrous spell at United. He inherited an absolute dumpster fire and it felt like the players never gave him a chance because they knew he was only sticking around for a few months anyway.
If you've ever been to a derby at AAMI Park and experienced the crowd for yourself it is an extremely outlandish call though.
You don't need that many people in the terraces to generate some good noise at AAMI Park, the stadium is excellent. Derby crowds are always super vocal too, especially...
I don't understand the logic that he would be an undeserving winner if he managed to win it all with a team that you think is inferior to his competitors. How does that make sense?
It probably seems unfair to single out one person after that collapse but I thought Rashford's effort as a sub was absolutely atrocious.
Bruno, Garnacho, and even Antony, were working their arses off all game but Rashford barely got out of a jog in the 20 odd minutes he managed. Chelsea were...
I can't wait for the umpires to overcorrect that next week when Hawthorn take on Collingwood...He'll probably win more high contact free's in one game against us than he did for the entirety of his last season with us.
I don't think your prediction is that outrageous Jatz
I've been a season ticket holder with MVFC since 09 and I've seen plenty of other members that I know drop off and lose interest in recent years. I still go to as many games as I can but I find that the experience and overall atmosphere is...
Noble in for Markov seems an obvious change.
I feel like when we were playing our best football last season the attacking runs from defence that Noble and Nick generated were a huge factor in it. With Noble out of the side and Nick playing midfield our ball movement has really suffered. We...
This is pretty wide spread these days but how often do you think that these people are actually watching full 90 minute matches of teams that they don't support? Unfortunately it's much easier to follow short clips and memes on 'banter' pages through twitter, reddit, facebook, etc. than it is to...
That part was infuriating to listen to. This is one of their best episodes yet though.
Some other interesting take aways for those who haven't seen it:
He says that some players refused to captain the club (in Maguire's absence) for high profile games and that they didn't have the balls to...
I don't think anyone is actually suggesting that though, are they? I personally don't believe they are remotely similar, and I do say that as someone who has been called a 'white dog/bastard/campaigner' plenty of times growing up in an area with a strong population of First nations people. But you...
The Athletic had a stat piece on this earlier in the season. The crux of it was that when McTominay starts games he was being given license to get forward because no one else was scoring. Which means that Bruno spends more time in deeper positions and so a lot of the "chances" that he's creating...
I wish I shared your optimism.
You have to factor in the problem of his wages. Any club who would be interested in giving him a chance isn't going to be able to offer anywhere near his current wages (I believe around £200k pw), so I can't imagine there being many suitors willing to cough up 30m...
Definitely burning out. He's played more football than any other outfield player in Europe over the past couple of years and that was always going to catch up with him eventually.
When was the last time we had any sort of update on Mount? If it weren't for the massive fee I'd have completely...
Has anyone seen this weeks 'Stick to Football' episode with Rooney yet? Well worth a watch if you haven't.
Some interesting take aways:
Says the players never really gave Moyes a chance to succeed. Neville mentions that Moyes once told him that he felt like the unwanted step father replacing a...
Ideally yeah, but then the problem is that you have to wait for the investigation/trial to play out to avoid unfair dismissal claims, and then when the charges are eventually dropped there's not much that can be done.
I genuinely believe that when the charges were made public that United...
The bolded bit is why he's making these comments. The waters have already been tested and that door has been slammed shut.
They can't get a decent fee for him if they're announcing to the world that he has no future at the club.
