    Preview Round 4, 2024: Box Hill Hawks v North Melbourne, 20 April 2024, 2.05pm @ BHCO

Butler is a bit of an enigma to me. I just get the feeling he has more to offer than he has shown to date. Has he been typecast as a small forward because of his brother? Can he play a midfield role? I don’t know but he puzzles me. Maybe he needs to move clubs as he has a few small forwards...

    Preview Round 4, 2024: Box Hill Hawks v North Melbourne, 20 April 2024, 2.05pm @ BHCO

Dear just keeps on improving. Great contested mark. He will make AFL. Max Hall BOG. Great game.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear!

Calsher needs more time at VFL level. If he continues to build his game he may get a cameo in the firsts later in the year. He is clearly not ready in my view and it would not be in his best interests nor the club’s to rush him in.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn, Sam Frost. Extends to 2024!

More a reference to the opinions of some on here who appeared to believe he wasn’t even good enough for the magoos. Not my opinion.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn, Sam Frost. Extends to 2024!

Frosty’s comeback has been Lazarus like.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Lloyd Meek

A bit of competitive tension between Meek and Reeves is a good thing and should bring out the best in both.

Player Watch Welcome Max Ramsden, Pick 6 2022 MSD - Debuts!

I will put up my hand and say I didn’t think he was AFL ready yet as a ruckman and I still do. However, his contested marking has been good in the VFL and he has some forward craft. Yesterday’s effort by Ramma deserves mention as I thought he looked more at home than I was expecting. The speed...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Lloyd Meek

Credit where it is due, Meek was great today. It was almost as if he brought his VFL or WAFL game to the AFL and realised he belongs there. I hope he continues to do so.

Autopsy Round 4, 2024 : Hawks get Pied

You have to respect the way our young team came back from 38 points down at half time to almost win the game. That was a massive fight back and exemplifies the character of our guys. It should fill them with the self belief that with a bit more experience ( and a couple of KPPs) they will be...

    Game Day Round 4, 2024 : Collingwood v Hawthorn, 5:10pm Sunday 7th, Adelaide Oval

Fingers crossed. We seem to play well against the Pies so I am hopeful rather than confident. My Collingwood supporting mate is always nervous when they play us.

Game Day Round 3, 2024 : Hawks Vs. Cats Easter Monday edition

Great fight back. When we can put it together over four quarters we will be a serious threat. Hoping we maintain the pressure

Rain forecast to stop in 30 mins and start again circa 7 pm. Forecasting is a mug’s game.

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear!

Looks a promising kpf but still has a fair way to go. As others have said still a bit low production at present but has strong hands, a good contested mark and kicks well. I wouldn’t expect him to play AFL for a while but if he continues to improve at this rate he could be a good footballer...

Review Round 2, 2024: Geelong Cats vs Box Hill Hawks, 30 March 2024, 11.05am @ GMHBA Stadium

Good to see Maginness silence a few of the criticisms today. He really produced an all round game which he can build on in the AFL rather than being a one trick run with player. Needs to improve his skills a bit but made some good decisions today.

I hope Seamus was not injured. He was good today and looks just about ready for promotion.

Player Watch Welcome to Hawthorn: Pick 23, Sam Butler

Sam has turned the corner. A strong preseason, he looks fit and fast. More importantly he is looking AFL ready.

Review Round 2, 2024: Geelong Cats vs Box Hill Hawks, 30 March 2024, 11.05am @ GMHBA Stadium

After a pretty poor first half and ten minutes into the third quarter Box Hill took control of the game and showed their true potential. It will lift their belief to know they can run out a game and win convincingly when things seems to be going against them. Fantastic last quarter running on...

Review Round 2, 2024: Geelong Cats vs Box Hill Hawks, 30 March 2024, 11.05am @ GMHBA Stadium

It Is pointless criticising umpires. Of course they will make mistakes. The reality is we have played poorly and Geelong deserve their lead. Let’s hope Box Hill can lift in the second half. They are better than what they have shown in the first half.

Review Round 1, 2024: Casey Demons Vs Box Hill Hawks, 24 March 2024, 2.00pm @ Casey Fields

I would like to give a shout out to James Parsons who kicked a magnificent goal off one step in his first game back from ACL surgery. Unfortunately shortly after he suffered a reported Achilles injury and will be out again for an indefinite period. Best wishes in his recovery. Football can be a...

Review Round 1, 2024: Casey Demons Vs Box Hill Hawks, 24 March 2024, 2.00pm @ Casey Fields

Agree with your comments re ruck contests. Meek tends to dominate at VFL level but struggles against top flight rucks in the AFL. Ramsden marked strongly but unfortunately kicked inaccurately for goal. I assume Fullerton was rucking for Casey and he is listed with Melbourne but if so did not...

Review Round 1, 2024: Casey Demons Vs Box Hill Hawks, 24 March 2024, 2.00pm @ Casey Fields

I am biased, but I love HH. So clean by hand unlike many in the seniors yesterday.

Casey fought back into the game that quarter. 45/23 to Box Hill at half time. Big third quarter coming up.

    Preview Round 3, 2024: Hawthorn v Geelong, 1st April 3:20pm MCG

I think it would be wise to watch the Box Hill / Casey game before suggesting changes. If anyone is hungry and good enough to be promoted they will show their wares today. Always reward form not changes for changes sake.

Review Round 1, 2024: Casey Demons Vs Box Hill Hawks, 24 March 2024, 2.00pm @ Casey Fields

Well at least this game will show us if anyone is knocking the door down to get promoted to the senior team.

Autopsy Round 2, 2024: Hawks go to hell

Surely the Reeves critics don’t seriously believe Meek would do better. Reeves may have his shortcomings but Meek has failed to convince anyone that he would be an improvement.

Autopsy Round 2, 2024: Hawks go to hell

Two games in and it seems that our effort is there for a quarter or two but our skills require a lot more work and some of our best from last year are out of form or out of the side with injury. I have no doubt we will improve with Day back and greater consistency over four quarters. However...

Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Calsher Dear!

I took the first post as tongue in cheek but there were a couple of other references that appeared to explore the same theme. Also hope that McCabe will be the developing KPD and Dear KPF.
