From memory (and it was a long time ago) spider Burton was delisted by the spooners and picked up by the premiers (us) and played 50+ games.
Edit - Ah just googled it. Freo were second last that year. There goes a good trivia question. Also Mason Wood.
This is clearly a bad trade
Melbourne would have paid more
I cannot fathom why the club were so desperate to see him go they'd take pick 33
I'd be happy to give him 500x4 than that
The real sting isn't the overrated JC going for such a high price, but the giant spud that is Danniher somehow...
So here is my plan - I have just remembered that I am on a student membership which I forgot to remove last year - but since there wasn't footy it didn't seem to matter. So I've emailed the club and told them to cancel my auto-renewal because I'm unhappy with their treatment of BBB. I'll revert...
I've always disliked this attitude. How else are members supposed to make their voice heard? All of us want to see our membership number go up, not down. But if you think a club is acting poorly - what are you supposed to do about it aside from vote with your wallet?
First post in a few years to rant!!
Firstly - I love the NBA. Who do I support? No one. Teams are just the colours of their uniforms. The best part about footy is feeling you're apart of something and watching those kids you recruit develop into men. Our best player of the previous 3 years has...
Vegan, really? I mean vegetarian I can understand... Far out it must be hard to get protein for a professional athlete on a vegan diet. I'm in awe he's making it work.
Yes I don't want to jinx it but it looks like it is having a flow on effect to the umpiring. For too long defenders have been allowed to maul him. Now he has some star credit, it seems the whistle is actually being blown.
Well his salary will definitely be part of our cap. But it's just this year, and we're not recruiting anyone. So unless we plan to renegotiate a contract to front load (as I suspect we did with Brown) it means nothing.
Yes he probably has negotiated an amount in terms of actual dollars. There...
His ability before the Achilles has been forgotten by all apart from the north loyalists.
The thing I will remember him for is converting my wife to AFL and the Kangaroos, haha.
How many clubs have echewed their solid players and leaders and successfully rebuilt? It killed Melbourne. You can't just go for a side under 25 because you're not doing well. You need culture, and you need wins.
Happy for Swallow to have 2018 with us, it will be his last and he will add a lot...
There is no nice way to fire someone. I don't think the club have done it that badly.
6th in B&F was a surprise to me, though it likely reflects his 22 games, versus the vast majority of our list.
Yes - not sure if you understand me or not, I will rework what I mean.
He earns X amount next year as part of his old contract, and it has been obvious he will be worth twice that in 2019 and 2020.
What has made the Kangaroos do this now is that we aren't getting Dusty or Kelly. Instead of...
I was thinking he could find new life at the Bulldogs. They certainly need the help in the backline, and should be aiming to go deep into finals next year.
Also possibly Collingwood. Another poor backline, and Bucks seems to like taking old players.
There are #3 picks that didn't crack 150. He...
Yeah but plenty of talls have had 'one good season' and plenty of players with knee troubles have gotten away with it only to to have it degenerate. Cloke & Cooney respectively signed contracts at their heights. All I'm saying is that if the club wants to set bye week 2018 as the target, it's...
Nothing annoys me more than that argument. "Brown is 110kg, if Grundy doesn't do what we did, he wouldn't be able to tackle Brown."
Aside from not being true, does that argument also apply to punching a guy directly in the face? "Yeah but he is a lot stronger than me, if I didn't punch him in...
I think that his interest in recruiting and helping analyse skill sets might have risen out of him being overlooked so many times. I am sure it was painfully obvious to him that he could compete at AFL level, so obviously when you arrive as a player you are going to think you can contribute in...
