Bont is 26 this year. I reckon some people would still pick Matt Rowell or Sam Walsh.
If I don't have to care beyond the next 2-3 years I'm taking Dusty.
Gold Coast will still be ordinary next year. Look at Port, they had 3 kids come in and have an impact straight away and they didn't improve - and that's coming from a more established base. Gold Coast just need to keep a core together for a few years and they'll be solid.

It appears West Coast will be the partner to trade with Brisbane here, which would allow the Lions to match later selections. Discussions are ongoing...
We're alive!
I know we got Tim Kelly and all but I honestly reckon we could've got 5 picks in the 20s this year if we stayed in this draft.
Craig Vozzo will be be giving Kelly dirty looks in the corridor for costing him a chance at a record haul of second rounders.
I reckon Geelong have their eye on the pointy end of 2020 "NGA draft".
Pick 11 + (based on 2019 form only) two picks 12-18 would give them currency to trade up to around the top 5. Those picks on their own aren't anything special next year with all the bidding that is apparently going to take...
I don't get it. How are you allowed to trade 11 for 27? That's 1,329 points for 703. It's not like when they traded for our first pick that ended up being 18.
If by some chance he doesn't go in what is currently the top 22 picks tonight, I reckon we will be trying to work out some kind of trade tomorrow - not that we have much to work with.
At what point do you discount a player's value due to age? Dustin Martin and Nat Fyfe are 28 and dominant. Do you take Jeremy Cameron who is two years younger but not as consistent over his career? Or Patrick Cripps who is 24 but not quite as good in the middle?
I reckon Taranto is a sneaky...
Good honest assessment. I don't want to pump up NicNat but he's been AA ruckman and there have been periods where footy analysts go on and on about the influence he has on our midfield, how we can't win without him, how he's the best tap ruckman in the game etc. Rich isn't the subject of such...
By chance I spoke to Peter Sumich (then assistant) in the lead up to the draft. He said internally WC were split on Rich or Naitanui. The news narrative was that freo would take whoever we didn't. Hill at 3 caught a lot of people off guard.
No from me. We've had NicNat on a good money 5 year deal and he's missed more than he's played. Do we deserve anything for that? Nope.
If you draft a player at pick 1 and they do a Menzel/Morabito it's really just bad luck.
