You can create teams and battle over the internet on there. It's pretty great, especially since it cuts out the need for training.

It's not ideal but FBI's shown time and time again that his internet is shoddy. Better option than re-trying a battle ten times trying to get it to work and giving away strategies.

What item is good for carbink.. Other than light clay because I've tried for ages to get one...

Yeah and we know that FBI has taken the steps to raise his pokemon, he just can't use them.
The biggest problem with Showdown is that it isn't a perfect simulation (AFAIK).
So here are the rules ive been playing with to keep it as close to playing on the ds as possible.
Obviously only use the pokemon youve trained, for example I havent trained a tangrowth so I havent used one. But basically just copy your team
IV - Set to 31
EV's - Set to what you have, dont change between battles as you wouldnt be able to do that in the game
Nature - the one you have in game, dont chamge between battles
Ability - the one you have in game, no hidden abilities unless you bred them
Moves - no egg moves or tutor moves unless youve bred them/transfered them over - you can change moves between battles if it is a simple TM like Flamethrower or a simple heart scale move relearner
Items - use ones you have in game
If we go like that it should be as close to the real deal as possible Wowsk
