It's a shame that in the rounds Mendes tagged Aldo hard and occasionally put him down - he also got put down. It kind of un-did any hard work he put in for those rounds and gave the judges an out.

I saw this much the same way as GSP v Hendricks. He scored ever so slightly better for almost every round which is highlighted by the scores... But that doesn't for one second begin to tell the story of what happened in the fight. Very even contest. :thumbsu:

Just watching the Aldo v Mendes II fight....The 2 punches that drop Mendes in the 1st after the bell was exactly that. Its been played down but I think that cost Mendes a round or two, Absolutely after the bell. Not sure if there was anything the ref could of done, I would expected him to be in the middle as the bell rang.

I say bring on a 3rd :)

Apparently hearing the bell/horn was the issue at the end of the 1st with the crowd being so loud. Aldo thought didn't even know it was the end of the round (supposedly), saying he thought he was being separated at the end of the round because he thought he'd won the fight initially, then realising that the bell had just rung afterwards.

All that means is that if he keeps fighting it will be for the UFC. The new contract would be for new figures, nothing much to it in my opinion.
IMO UFC also heading their bets to ensure he never competes with a rival organisation in his life if he retires. Because we all know he'll never fight 15 more times in the UFC.

Not a fan of him signing for 15 fights. It will be like MJ playing for the wizards....Just getting beat by people, when in his prime would not stand a chance.

I hope now we can see some "Super fights"

I may have misunderstood your post, but yes, I did think that you were implying that. I'm sorry if I was wrong.
lol all good. I was referring to the previous post where Nikos said he will never fight 15 times (unless he gets on TRT) I probably should have quoted that for clarity.. my bad!

Can't wait for Silva vs Severn! :p

The reason for the length of the contract was summed up by Nickos66. Nobody thinks or expects Anderson to fight 15 times, it's purely so that he's tied for the UFC for the remainder of his fighting career. I honestly only see him fighting 2 or 3 more times before hanging them up if all things go well. If Diaz beats him, I could see him calling it a career after that fight.

It could also affect Silva into retirement too IMO, if say, he ever fielded serious offers and entertained the thought of an exhibition bout with someone like Floyd Mayweather.. It could be an unprecedented and massive payday. But guess who he'd have to convince to let him do it.

Seeing as most, if not all contracts state in it that once signed, the UFC owns the "rights to the fighters name, sobriquet, image, likeness, voice, persona, signature and biographical material of fighter and all persons associated with fighter (collectively, the "identity")".

The UFC would look to only agree to such scenarios for a slice of the action for what Silva and associated promoters would make. There have been plenty of fighters that have retired with fights left on their contract, and have no option to revive their careers unless it's with that company. It'd be a shame to see an instance like the above happen sometime down the line. :(

Although this is probably getting a little ahead of things, just something to ponder.

Co main event
Chuck - Tito
Randy - Fedor

Would pay to see it

I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed you are taking this more seriously than I am. I was hoping you'd work Harold Howard in there. ;)

Manuwa is out of next weekend's fight against Shogun with OSP taking his place. Shogun is also coaching the next series of TUF Brazil opposite Anderson Silva, although early word is they aren't going to fight at the end of the season.

Uriah Hall vs Costa Philippou ... at Welterweight

Really? Didn't read that part of the article. Philippou I have thought for a while should try 170 as it would suit his size/frame more, but Hall looked like a pretty big middleweight. Will be interesting to see how they both go as the number of high level wrestlers at 170 would be pretty intimidating to striking specialists like them.
