RATTTTTSSSSSSSSSS

God, the guy who was part of the team that left Malthouse with a list half of which was justifiably turned over in the space of 13 months?

I don't find anything remotely impressive about his time at Carlton. They were flaky and carried on the back of 10 really good players.

Sanderson had a good run with an easy fixture in his first year coaching Adelaide, only to be shown up in his second when the Crows reeked of mediocrity. Hard pass.
He almost got them to a Grand Final in their first year. They were so close to beating the Hawks.
If anything, it's been similar to Hinkley for him.

Hurts me to write this but...
Would Ratten be that bad? Carlton were winning finals during his tenure.
You would think he would be much improved after spending so long at the Hawks.

2 weeks ago would've been a real possibility. Now, probably not.

McCartney knows how to pick and develop a young player - He knows fk all about coaching however. Assistant only please.

What a stupid bloody comment, McCartney would be a bloody awesome coach, Bulldogs are only this good at the moment because of McCartney hard work with the youngsters, The old blokes hated that Macca put so much time into the younger brigade because they felt left out, the selfish F#cks.

Righto settle petal.

Tis my opinion only and no he wouldn't be bloody awesome as he's already shown he's been bloody s**t.

Bloody.

We'd be mad to pass up someone from the Hawthorn coaching team. Their model of teaching players rather than coaching them has seen them become the most successful side of the last decade. It also plays into our hands as we'll be entering a development phase where educating and growing kids into senior players will be the key to future success. I think we have to acknowledge that regardless of what we think of their club their methods have become the new 'best practice' and we should be following them if we want to have a crack at a flag any time in the next 20 years.

Look how Luke Beveridge and Adam Simpson have gone this year. One had a very young list and the other had an injury list as long as your arm yet both have done really well despite the adversity.

So Ratten, Yze or Bruce would be my picks based on that, whether they have the other attributes needed for a coach is another matter that you can only really determine through the interview process.

Do we need a 'seasoned' coach? No. Luke Beveridge was chucked into the must turbulent situation other than our own at the Bulldogs and has thrived.

Do we want a 'Essendon person'? Hell no. You get the best performance when you have a diversity of ideas and ways of thinking. The business management literature is full of examples of this. This is a golden opportunity to bring in successful ideas from a successful club.

Of course what will probably happen is a bunch of coterie hacks will sway the board and we'll get another favourite son ahead of a much better qualified candidate. We don't just need a new coach, we need a restructure from the ground up and a complete change away from the conservative, boys club culture that seems to pervade the place.

What is going on with this anyway, Little couldnt shut his mouth for 3years, sacks Hird then silence.

Channel Seven reported that Worsfold has changed his mind and is open to coaching again.
Probably sniffs the wind of change at Collingwood.

I'm not sure about Worsfold. Yes he is a capable coach, but his tactics may be outdated, similar to Roos.

The 'Hawthorn' way of coaching is an interesting one.

Clarkson hardly coaches is players in the sense we remember.

He's a manager, not a coach. He manages the specialist coaches and helps them perform their duties the best they can. There are often times he isn't even at training when the Hawks train.

We need to go down this path as it's the future.

Get the best assistants in their fields in place and get a manager in who can support them ala Hawthorn.

I just can't see Worsfold as a long term coach at Essendon. He just seemed out of it in his last couple of years at West Coast. He'll suit Adelaide more given that they are closer to a premiership.

Judging by previous trends of reports, welcome to Essendon Worsfold
