Isn’t it funny that you have way more control over a RFA than almost any other contracted time. If crows do a Dawson 2.0 - fine we match and keep him. If the compo is s**t, we keep him. So much more power than a regular out of contract player!!

So clearly we did the maths and realised our picks in 40s improved the earlier we made academy/FS bids. I think it was posted here Cleary was tipped to be picked by pies for a while, so essentially got what we needed and trade period was super successful as we didn’t need anything more…

I think they will make clubs have picks in the round where bids come (I.e. to match a 1st rounder you need a 1st round pick still). It’s mainly at the top of the draft where there is vitriol not later/rookies. Remove all discounts and make the cost of not having enough points more punitive.

Draft is the second most compromised part of the AFL after fixturing. Fixtures have benefited the large VIC teams and punished all inter state. Draft is helping northern academies and FS teams. Essentially WA and SA clubs are getting the most screwed. Fairness index: 1-4: crows, port, eagles...

I think if O’Sullivan is still there at pick 6,7,8 (GWS, Dees, Cats) we will offer pick 12 and north F19 to get O’Sullivsn who is a perfect NSW KPD for us
