Teams start training early to have that edge over the opposition. I think training this early runs the risk of players losing interest during the season. Gone are the days where footy was fun. It's a job for a lot of guys now with the amount of money being flicked around.
Do you guys think there'll be a chance of Ovens & Murray teams trying to join the GVFL in the future years? A lot of people seem pretty upset and disappointed the way the league is being managed at the moment.
I am not certain on anything and it could be small town rumours/big footy rubbish but Shane McKean is coaching Gooambat where a lot of the saints reserves players are linked, Mellington linked with Albury (again). Money talks, will be interesting to see if a few follow the money
You would think that would be the case... I haven't heard of any new recruits only departures at the Saints. Like I said earlier, the loss of a few players could hurt their depth to cover injuries.
Word on the street is Benalla is going to lose a considerable amount of their reserves players to an Ovens & King side. Not sure how true this is, but it's what I've heard. Would surely hurt their depth if this is the case.
As well as Buckley, the other thing I find quite amusing is Josh Mellington kicks close to 100 goals in the H&A season and polls 3 votes... Seriously?!
They must be pretty confident he can bring a few with him... 15+ maybe? I wouldn't think this seasons players would stay if the previous coach isn't coaching there.
Interesting to hear that All Blacks have appointed a 21 year old playing coach for the seniors. Big task ahead after seeing some of the results from this season.
I actually have a lot of close mates that play or are associated with Greta. It is a fantastic club with an excellent culture. I'm not sure why there is so much hate towards them. By the sounds of it, their people and club sound a lot more welcoming than some of the other people on here.
