Cam was taken with pick 14 by the Giants after having excellent u18 champs with the highlight being a after-the-siren goal for Western Australia.

IT’S not surprising the Giants have formed a partnership with the Sydney Thunder, they already have Simon Katich as their runner and the very talented batsman Stephen Coniglio in their midfield.

Today they’ll add another talented cricketer to the list when Cam McCarthy makes his debut against the Western Bulldogs this afternoon.

As a 17-year-old McCarthy was in the under 18 WA squad as an opening bat before choosing the Sherrin over the Kookaburra.

“I grew up loving cricket,” McCarthy said.

Geez I'm bullish about this kid. Burst out of the blocks at the start of his 2nd season but has tired. Keep in mind that he had a broken leg as a 17 year old so has started on the backfoot fitness wise.

Looking forward to see what he can do after another pre season.
