AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (Vice-Captain)

Did not say he was 100% perfect. Just said he was not hacking it around the corner without looking from deep in defense as much.

Would be back to the number one slot out of the top 3 taken in the 2016 draft right now. The luggage is going okay and my man Taranto was having a mare before he got injured.

AFL Player #13: Nik Cox 🦄 - Skipper called him 'the Unicorn' in an interview (confirmed!)

It probably no surprise that he is grasping the role a bit better now we are playing our wingers more defensively and having them push into the back half . The reason I was dead set firm on him not being any good as a wing was he simply kept running in circles not knowing where or who to go to...

    Team Mgmt. 2024 Best 22 (or 23)

Not crazy at all. When he has played midfield we have generally been good. The fact that Durham and Perkins stepped up has given us more options and not totally needing him there but you can not say when he has been fully fit that he has not made a difference to the side. You need 6 or 7...

    Team Mgmt. 2024 Best 22 (or 23)

Parish has never been a high pressure player. Midfielders that hunt the footy in general do not make good pressure forwards. I know what you are trying to create but there are specialist spots and good sides have fast pressure forwards. Not converted midfielders. They can play a role in the...

    AFL Player #37: Nic Martin

Given where we are at I am not really looking at plus / minus goals given the two games we lost would have had not changed a lot with him on the wing or Forward. One thing I will say is the wings have been playing a lot more of a defensive role so it may be a forward role. So far it has not cost...

Free Agent # 6: Joe Daniher - derp Brisbane player

Have heard a few comments on him not wanting to play but as you say he was seriously ****ed for a while. Maybe he was not confident given he tried to do the right thing by the club and play through it initially but failed so he did not want to push it too hard at the back end of what was a...

    Team Mgmt. 2024 Best 22 (or 23)

It is one pressure forward. Gresham does not have the pace to play genuine pressure forward and Parish is a midfielder not a pressure forward. Midfielders do not make pressure forwards . You only have Davey as genuine pressure and he is still a level back from where he needs to be.

AFL Player # 1: Andrew "Pidge" McGrath (Vice-Captain)

And he is running with the footy and not just dumping it around the corner .

Team Mgmt. Makeup of our team II - Strengths & deficiencies, player development

It did but our inside 50 tackles where way down. I agree I prefer smaller. Looking long term one of Sam or Nick has to step up and take control of 80% of the ruck. Wright plays forward / 2nd ruck. Caddy and Jones mobile tall forwards. Langford and Stringer doing what they do. Need two pressure...

That is the issue short term for sure.

You have very selective vision. :p

    Team Mgmt. 2024 Best 22 (or 23)

May be best now but I am not sold on the long term. Not much forward pressure.

AFL Player # 7: Indefatigable Zach Merrett (c) - Your ANZAC Day Medallist - 25/4

Well some people see what they want to. He used to pad his stats with cheap back half kicks but now days there is none of that :)

Maybe they wouldn't if they where confident he was not afraid of contact

You mean the 45m penalty. :p

AFL Player # 2: Sam Draper

Was a lot better and he was more switched on to what was going on around the ground.

Recruiting AFL Trade & Free Agency XII - 💰💰💰

Very patchy last year with a lot of low possession games with minimal impact. Has played R1 and R4 VFL this year and kicked a couple of goals first up then 3 in round 4. 11 tackles in two games.

    AFL Player #10: Sam Weideman

Watch this space. It may be over for us but if he plays at last weeks level in the back half then it will not be so over.
  21. ant555

AFL Player # 8: Ben "Goblin" Hobbs

He has played only 5 VFL games so it is hard to say either way that he has or has not looked a level above VFL . For the record his stats are. 2022. R1 21 disposals. 1 mark . 7 tackles . 9 clearances. R2 24 disposals. 10 marks . 4 tackles . 7 clearances . 1goal. 1 behind. 2023 R1 36 disposals ...

On the sub. Personally I would go 6 on the bench. No sub. 60 interchanges (15 per quarter) .

Delisted #39: Pat Voss - Stiff Armed by Essendon on Oct 25. Refer to #556

After the way they played las week I am not shocked. His second WAFL game last week was decent.

Official Match Thread Season 37 Round 13 - Gumbies FFC v Sin City Swamprats at The House of Gumby [MOTR]

Very underrated bowling. Sadly I can no longer participate because my back is screwed but I have started playing lawn bowls . I am over 50. I can . :)

AFL Autopsy RND 7: Draw Against The Pies

It has been a personal thing at stages but it is also a teaching thing. The message obviously has not change in 15 years but coaching is also about being able to sell the message and get the buy in.
  27. ant555

AFL Player # 8: Ben "Goblin" Hobbs

At this stage I would have no issues with him going back to the VFL and playing inside midfielder. The issue is the role he is playing at half forward suites his aggression at the footy but he does not have the outside creativity . He is an inside grunt player. His weakness is he does not have...

    AFL Player #37: Nic Martin

Wow. He actually knew how to play another spot on the ground when he was moved and the big bad half back move did not wreck his football ability. ;) I do not think he is a half back but I am not going to sit around complaining that the coach tries something to fix our ball movement out of half...
  29. ant555

    AFL Player #37: Nic Martin

It was actually half forward ;) We use our wings in a defensive running role now days so it may need to be high half forward for Nick.

AFL Autopsy RND 7: Draw Against The Pies

They did make us pay on some turnovers but also the little skill errors like missed handball targets that put our blokes under pressure or the little fumbles at times. They love to pounce on the footy after a mistake and take of in numbers the other way. Also exposed the forward half for speed a...
