I just hope that Mark O’Connor hangs around for the medium term. He is getting better and better but he may wish to return to Ireland, particularly if he wins a premiership.
Take some positives from the second half despite the injuries. There will also e a number of blunt learnings from the review tape. I liked Jack Henry's and Sav's game plus Blitz rucked manfully in the second half.
Had to take all our chances in the last quarter and we fill short.
Brought over, I understand, to look after Polly. Great team man, not too mention Respected Perth media identity.
If I am not mistaken, also helped write the lyrics for the club theme song ... he was "We are Geelong"
I think a contributing factor to recent results is also list management decisions over the last 3 to 5 years. At the moment we lack depth in outside mid fielders with pace and those with capacity to run out of defence. The surprise selection of Mark OConnor was the Match Committee sending a...
We will need to get our defensive match ups right given their "mosquito fleet" forward line as well as their outside run. Bews might be needed as one of the defensive match ups?
I learned from a reasonably reliable source that when Simon Lloyd joined the club (just under 12 months ago) he was perplexed by the lack of resources in the GFC recruiting team. At the time ( not sure now) we only had three full time recruiting staff all in Victoria. This was compared to Freo...
Agreed. Suns defensive efforts were very feeble tonight. Next week will be a different story against the Eagles defensive "web". Kardinia Parks narrow ground will also help the Eagles. Precision and speed in moving the ball will be key.
Great to see some of the lesser lights in the...
Biggy, l would argue that it does not take that long for a team to learn Woosha's negative defensive (uninteresting) but reasonably effective game plan.
Geelong is simply going to have to learn to move the ball quickly out of defence to more effectively counter the negative zoning of...
Perth radio is reporting that Simon Lloyd - Freo assistant coach - is moving to Geelong next season.
If true, it will be good for our coaching group to get a fresh perspective. Simon Lloyd is highly regarded over here.
The club's bean counters would have budgeted for a big crowd on Friday night - howeve the pies supporters have gone into hibernation and there are a number of disillsioned cats fans as well. Menzel back in the line up will hopefully help the size of the gate.
We need to get off to a better...
Rivers or Bews may be options in the backiline to cover the Hawks key forwards including one of Cyril, Breust, Poppy and Gunstan. However we will also need to stop the supply to their forward line - Birchall is the architect of so many inside 50s, he is the quarter back (along with Hodge)...
The booing of Adam Goodes is very sad and is tarnishing our great game. It is hurtful for a key part of our community and it is simply idiotic.
Geelong has been a champion team on the field for the last ten years - now will be time for Geelong supporters to show we are a champion club off...
It was great to see Tom Hawkins isolated, one on one with his opponent, close to goal. Also his kicking for goal was excellent given the difficult conditions.
Kudos also to his forward team mates for giving him the space.
I agree with your conclusion but what lets Walker down is his lack of kicking skills. There were a few instances yesterday when, under pressure, his kicking ability was shown to be lacking. He really needs to improve that part of his game.
Kersten has the skills but his ability to...
