Hawks won't want to let Meek go but he's out of contract and the slightly younger Reeves has an extra year and is on a bigger salary (big enough to be a restricted free agent next year). As far as back-up options go he's more attainable than most.
Would prefer Peckett to slide past our first and ideally the Adelaide second we have. Take a leaf out of the 2021 draft, use early picks and pick up academy kids with junk selections
Adrian Cole is the most likely of our NGA's, a key defender clocking in at 195cm last published measurement, one of the vice captains at Sandy Dragons and a Capricorn.
Where he goes on the draft board, way too early to say. As it the bidding process stands, we can only bid-match if he gets...
Problem is most of the ruck options are under contract (Bryan and Strachan both until end of next year) - we have to part with enough currency to prise them out and that means overpaying for a back-up ruck option. The best options out of contract would be Ned Moyle and Lloyd Meek, maybe Lachlan...
There's at least one (understandable) error on that, GWS traded us Adelaide's 2nd rounder, not their own

According to the official AFL list - he's unrestricted

AFL Draft: The best father-son selections of all time and the famous names in the 2024 pool
Elwood Peckett (St Kilda)
A high half-forward or inside midfielder, Peckett has started the season strongly with the Dandenong Stingrays in the Coates Talent League...
Don't think he has the build to consistently ruck - he'd get absolutely ragdolled. The likes of Owens and Battle are stockier and work much better as a second ruck. He's already coming from a way back in terms of conditioning, better to let him work on just his forward craft.
We've swung and missed at getting a ruck the last few years and now we're in an awkward spot.
Unless we prise out a #1 ruck, get someone really young (18-20) or really old (30+), options are:
Name
Club
Age (rounded up, we're looking next year)
Career games
Contract expires
Ned Moyle...
From what I can tell the Pou noise is coming from particular places - Essendon't fans worried they backed the wrong horse, Adelaide and Port fans who want to get him cheap(er), pearl clutchers who decided he was arrogant based on stories around his draft year, even some of our own worried he...
Not just about Toce though, article mentions Gallagher, Roughead, Wayne Hughes and apparently more ("The Saints also parted ways with a group of part-time recruiters, including Carlton’s ex-national recruiting manager Wayne Hughes, over email in the period after Toce’s exit, the same sources...
Boston and Elwood are ours if we want them. The others depend on what happens with academy bidding, if it gets lowered back after 20 we have a much better chance of getting Cole who's the standout this far.
Linder and Hofmann will need strong seasons to push for that area where we can't match...
Dangerous precedent? What a sycophantic Sir Humphrey suggestion.
Sir Humphrey Appleby: Minister, if you block honours pending economies, you might create a dangerous precedent.
James Hacker: You mean that if we do the right thing this time, we might have to do the right thing again next time...
