Started in his old role as half forward with stints in the midfield. He did come back into defense to get the ball later in the game, but I'm not sure if that was a positional move or him pushing back to try and launch an attack or two.
I mean it's not like we spent all year trialling three tall forwards before settling on two tall forwards that took us to a Grand Final.
Feels like arrogance from the selection committee/coaching staff to think that Gardiner was the forward that could make a failed tactic work.
There will be a forced mini rebuild of sorts at the start of the next year with Levi Ashcroft, Doedee and Coleman coming into the side, along with a full pre-season for Will Ashcroft.
