I've watched the last couple of ressies games and Fort hasn't stood out particularly at that level, while Smith has looked good, particularly in field play.
I'm not sure if Smith's rucking is regarded as up to AFL standard yet though.
Either way, Oscar will be hard to replace.
Wouldn't be unhappy if Dizzy holds his spot if any doubts with Jack.
But just a little concern he may have a bit of a second game downer after a long time out of the As.
He obviously felt the upped pace of the game on Sat night.
Just had some Cat 3 tickets charged to my card. $404 for likely nosebleed behind the goals is pretty ordinary (but my sympathy to those who might miss out).
This will be the first and last time I go to a GF if this present sh*t fest ticketing system continues.
See you there! Got Section 440, Row CC after three tries and rejecting the first-up rubbish! We normally sit in Section 241 directly below 440 and it's a great area (except when it rains).
Was logged on at the very start and was about 10,500th in the queue! It took around eight minutes to...
I've mentioned this previously - I'm certainly not THE Ray Button (I believe he's passed on now), but Ray epitomised Aussie Rules in the 60s/70s as a high-flying Glenelg half-forward when the game was completely different.
I'm still a bit anti Interchanges as I reckon it takes the virtue of...
Although a native QldLander, I spent a significant part of my life in Adelaide, and followed my local team Glenelg from the late '60s, thus had strongly developed anti-Vic sentiments as the VFL continually 'stole' SANFL's best players.
I recall being quite annoyed in '86 when the Bears and West...
I feel that a small change to our game plan from the last time we played Melbourne might work better against them if we meet: with our kickouts, instead of "kick it to Gawn", we could try "kick it to where Gawn isn't".
I reckon Gunston is in the equivalent position that Grundy is in with Melbourne. No matter how good a player Grundy is, and for that matter Gunston, playing him upsets the team balance.
Melbourne made the hard but obvious decision and so should the Lions.
Just got up after a midnight drive back to the Sunny Coast and then watching the first-half replay.
Last night was special. It felt like this team finally came of age, and showed the goods even with Neale well held.
The forwards all contributed and PA had no answer.
Umpiring was just bizarre!
Like a lot of others, after selecting best available got a series of nosebleeds pretty much behind the goals. After about eight retries finally got Section 423 Row FF, so grabbed these seats.
The system stinks when first in don't get best choice. Both Ticketmaster and Ticketek need some decent...
Was also at the BHA tours last evening - very impressive facilities!
Our tour wrapped up out on the oval. I was really surprised at the hardness of the ground. The (very tough) grass cover seems to have little thickness or sponginess in it, and was cut quite short.
I couldn't work out from the telecast who Saad was on for most of the game (or vice versa). Zac looked to be on him a bit, but although Saad made a few upfield runs with the ball he didn't seem to get away too often.
Not a hugh influence on the game.
Does anyone know where we might find Fagan's post-match presser video? I gather from some prior comments that he did do one, but it is not posted in the Match Centre where all other pressers are?
I understand Fagan had some mild complaints about the AFL's handling of the Lights-Out issue -...
When I first sighted Cam Rayner at training last evening my first thought was he's matured - more of a man than a boy now.
I noticed him walking next to Lachie Neale - Lachie has massive calf and leg definition but Cam's calves weren't far behind, very cut. I later spent some time chatting to...
The Lions wisely did not allude to Oliver's culpability in this incident, but I would hope they quietly convey their concern to the AFL about why Oliver was not charged as the instigator who attacked Berry's head.
And also at the same time lodge a strong vote of no confidence in Christian.
