Give over!
Gretta on the grassy knoll? Talk about paranoid conspiracy theories.....
I can't accept that the major polluters should stop while everyone else still pollutes. Neither would they. So... pollution is a universal problem, not just a limited responsibility. That means us, Vanuatu...
Yes. Alan's championing of free speech was deafening when he supported Yassmin Abdel-Magied for reminding everyone that it isn't only Australians who died in wars.
No. My bad. He called for her to be sacked...
A hypocritical bully boy, imho.
Jones' comments are deplorable, but he descends into polemics that are based solely on his hatred of anything that isn't way to the right. There is little analysis other than confected outrage and vitriol. Unfortunately this isn't just specific to him, but too many other posters submit polarised...
I see your point, in a way. But the tenet of the post seems to seek to invalidate those who describe themselves as Christian because of the ridiculous amount of criteria recorded by a plethora of biblical scribes. Much of the scriptures were written in the context of their times/circumstances...
You don't leave much room for defining a Christian. I'm Australian - but if I don't salute the flag, sing the NA or hate Muslims can I still be Australian? "Christian" also must have a broad definition. No-one can resolve all the conflicts within Christian mores, so according to your narrow...
Yep! When queried on whether to pay taxes, Jesus said, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." Matthew 22:21
Even Jesus acknowledged the separation of church and state.
I do like the broader concept of religion as quoted above, because it satisfies a number of anomalies for me. I consider philosophy as encompassing religion, political and philosophical beliefs, etc., and virtually all human thought. So your concerns are well-founded, imho.
Burgess-Jackson's...
My guess is that AFL Vic is looking closely at what is happening to the east and south of Metro. My feeling is that they may step in within a couple of years and tread on a few parochial toes.
It wasn't that AFL Vic foisted it on us or them. Many of the SEFL clubs were actually looking at the MPNFL or SFL but the MPNFL clubs blocked it. Seems the precious approach from our southern neighbours is becoming a huge thorn in the side of fixing Victorian structures - not helped by the Board...
Good points. It is going to be a difficult time for the Commission, but I reckon they're up to it. Settling-in time is needed, but with clubs likely to move in and out over the foreseeable future, such a fluid structure will eventually level out if we give it time.
Good post!
As an afterthought: maybe the dilemma of these stronger clubs would give consideration for another state level of football - a type of old VFA under the VFL. Elite clubs could then be accommodated (to satisfy their egos/ambitions and local leagues could gain respite from over-powerful...
Likewise.
There is much to dislike within religion and these need to be addressed. There is much to dislike about taxation or politics, but we should concentrate on removing the demons amongst the angels rather than a 'baby/bathwater' scenario. Reform, but don't destroy is all I'm saying.
Hmmm.
Can we stick to the arguments instead of playing the man?
I am atheist. I believe the evidence that Jesus existed because it is compelling. He was just an influential bloke with some mystic ideas like many before and since, so I reject the mythology of him as a miracle worker or god.
I...
Ummmm....
Historians of the time (not Christians) who recorded in some detail about the man Jesus and his actions. You can choose to dismiss the historicity of the guy to accommodate your own agenda, but historians Josephus (Jew) and Tacitus (Roman) both gave relatively objective accounts of his...
Ignoring the historical evidence that Jesus, indeed, existed? Certainly the man, but imho, he was not divine: not the son of god: nor possessive of super powers - just a very important mystic.
Probably misled by your own admission : to-wit "Can I just enquire as to the claim made in bold, speaking as an anti-theist and also someone whom is militantly anti religious?"
I guess "anti-theist" and "militantly anti-religious" fits the definition fairly comfortably.
Hoisted with...
Drawing some long bows there!
Atheism (as with religion) is a philosophy, not a science. As an atheist, I don't consult science or evidence-based information solely to form my opinions. I shed my religious beliefs through osmosis over a long period. Science couldn't prove anything one way or the...
Bigot:
a person who has strong, unreasonable beliefs and who does not like other people who have different beliefs or a different way of life:
i.e. a religious bigot.
Don't fall into the binary trap. You can be an atheist without being anti-theist or anti-religion.
Wow! The use of pejoratives!! Those 'ignorant peasants' were part of the line that gave us algebra, trigonometry, agriculture, writing, astronomy, science, music, art, engineering, hydrology, libraries, philosophy, medicine, etc. etc.
What dumb-arses they were!
Too distasteful for you?
The whole issue held a mirror up to Australia and doco showed just how pathetic we were/are. Like other apologists, you seem to want to put it to one side and pretend it didn't happen, or deflect blame on the victim. It DID happen, shouldn't have happened and should...
The old chestnut!
Of course we have had periods of climate change. The sun's phases, earth axis fluctuations, volcanic activity, etc. All have been documented and assessed by science. None of those natural situations are under human control. There is no evidence to suggest that those influences...
