Portfolio The Limestone Coast Football League (LCFL)

Quick history lesson: When Kaniva & Districts (The Bulldogs, who wore the Footscray jumpers) merged with Leeor (The Bombers originally, who wore Essendon jumpers, before changing to the Jets and a Fitzroy style jumper when the KNTFL was formed) they become the Boomers and wore North Melbourne...

What is the point of the National Party

You're quite correct, my mistake. Still reeks that CSG opponents maintain they do so to protect farmland (something Windsor made clear), yet will let a coal mine rip up the land.

What is the point of the National Party

Such doom and gloom based on a single issue, which is all well and good, except in the seats where CSG is actually occurring, they all returned Nationals. Ballina and Lismore have no CSG, but solid Greens bases to build a scare campaign on. The decline of the Nats is far simpler to explain...

Mega Thread Trade and List Management discussion

We only have a limited number of draft selections, so by signing Hamling, we lose one of those selections - which means as it stands Hamling is the equivalent of pick 45.

Mega Thread Trade and List Management discussion

As it currently stands with the delistings, retirements and trades, Hamling is the equivalent to pick 45. Dogs picks at the draft: 26 - ? 27 - ? 39 - ? 45 - used for Joel Hamling 46 - used for Rookie elevation (Jong/Redpath) 64 - F/S Zaine Cordy 79 - used for Rookie elevation (Jong/Redpath)...

Gillard's AWU/Wilson past about to haunt her?

It isn't that amazing that Athol James has such clear memories of what happened. Firstly at the time he was winding down his work, really just trying to help set his son up, while working on building a church over the same time (and not really coming into regular contact with others), so when...

    Hockey vs Nationals

It may well be a private asset, but it doesn't give you the right to sell it anyone you like (I own several guns, it doesn't mean I can just sell them to anyone I like). That is part of the inherent risk in investing in these sort of assets. Mum and dad investors can sell their shares anytime...

    Hockey vs Nationals

It doesn't need to be sold at all. According to its 2012 financial statements it is a profitable business and had no trouble raising capital for infrastructure improvements. And Australia has the benefit of nearby access to the SE Asian food bowl and counter season crops. Foreign behemoths...

    Hockey vs Nationals

Well not quite right. Graincorp handles around 95% of grain exports from the Eastern States. But it is only the marketer of 35% of the grain. In other words it allows other grain marketers access to its facilities. ADM was refusing to guarantee access to other marketers (the ADM business model...

    Kntfl

A better question would be why in God's name were two of the three umpires for the Grand Final from Bodertown (and were even related to a number of the players)? Never seen so many baffling 50m penalties in a game. It was a farce.

    2012 Queensland Election - 24 March

Something of importance may be if these voting figures continue into the next federal election, Katter may pinch a senate seat from the Greens or maybe the ALP. Could be of great significance in tight senate.

$11.37 million of taxpayers money into dodgy pockets

    1. Actually governments do like to know where every cent is spent. Saves them from nasty little surprises later on. I've worked as a Ministerial Advisor, and trust me, they like to know (or have someone they trust know). 2. The gifts were only a small percent of the total spend, but really...

One Million unsold soccer WC tickets!!

Well, we had better not send the Socceroos there! Sounds dangerous! Seriously, I've spent a lot of time in Africa (including South Africa). Amazing place. Sure it's not advisable to wander around drunk at night, waving money around, but it is no where near as full on as you would have us...

AFL Not Needed for World Cup: Lowy

South Australia makes an interesting example. Building a new 40,000 seat rectangular stadium for the World Cup is highly unlikely for a number of reasons, but mostly because anyone with a good political memory will remember the 400% cost blow out and scalps it claimed the last time they built...

Soccer World Cup wants AFL to shut down for 8 weeks (Part II)

Well, completely wrong actually. No mention of moving home games to 'pricktoria' and he was saying the MCG and Kadina Park were offered to the World Cup bid. Of course he is little vague, no one knows what the bid details are yet. And don't get angry with Vlad about the World Cup...

Soccer World Cup wants AFL to shut down for 8 weeks (Part II)

I have mates who work at PWC, and if you think they are independent, you really don't have much idea. Any idiot can put numbers together, all you need is a calculator, but what keeps the large accounting firms in business, is the 'independent' analysis they provide, which just happens to...

    US will net World Cup

It is also a nicer time of the year to be hosting a large festival like this in the Northern Hemisphere, with lots of outdoor events. Surely part of the reason FFA were so desperate to get Docklands was for the roof, and why they cooked up an idea to put a roof on Homebush IIRC. Hosting an...

US World Cup bid in Jeopardy; governing body can't even organise a MLS season

It is interesting to note in the US almost all of the MLS teams have moved into 18,000-24,000 seat stadiums, most of these new and shiny. Seattle still share an NFL stadium, although they close the top deck for soccer matches, and New England are looking to build a smaller stadium and move out...

Why do you see alot more EPL tops worn in the street...

Well, certain EPL tops, namely the big four. Can't say I've seen a whole lot of Hull City, Bolton or Wigan Athletic tops. It is same where ever you travel in the world. The big clubs will only keep getting bigger. It is the one thing I hate about league soccer, is that nearly every year...

Is Australia the most insular country in the world?

Could you imagine the uproar in England if they decided to host the Rugby World Cup in the middle of the English Premier League season, told them to shut down for 8 weeks and took over all their stadiums? And as for 'a chance in a lifetime', good luck with actually getting a ticket to a game...

    London Mayoral Elections

Ken may well have promised to keep the Routemaster (and they will still be around on some tourist routes - hence promise kept), but he wasn't responsible for the Disability Discrimination Act, which the Routemaster doesn't meet, and had to introduce a wheelchair friendly model. As for fair...

    London Mayoral Elections

Yeah, that is a bendy bus. Apparently cab drivers don't like them for God knows what reason. Boris doesn't like them because he finds them hard to cycle past. So they will now be scrapped and millions of pounds spent on old school buses that don't cater for handicapped, baby carriers, or...

    London Mayoral Elections

Did you just cut and copy Boris's policy statement? Don't worry, Boris won't dare scrap the congestion charge, it makes too much money; how else is he going to fund his magical bus proposal? Speaking of which, what makes a bendy bus any more dangerous than an articulated lorry or double...

The Abc Decision On Repeats For Vfl, Sanfl, Etc...

Probably worth responding to the ABC on their level. Highlight all the lefty values of state football. If you need help with this, I guess you could ask Phil Cleary for a few pointers. Hopefully this gets sorted out. I've lived in all three states, and I have a strong interest in all three...

    Favourite Beer

Look forward to sitting in the car, queuing up to get a case of Westvleteren. Worth the drive, but have a designated driver and just sit in the cafe over the road from the abbey and try a few. If you really want to have a go at a few amazing Belgians try the St Bernardus beers. Ever bit...

I tried WM Recorder. Got that to work, but trial version of software only lets you get 5 minutes of video. Quality was pretty good. May buy a copy of it, seeing as my bigpond international account I bought 4 years ago still works. Slow though, looks like it will be an all nighter to download...

Same for me. Using Mozilla I just let it buffer away in the background, then came back and watched it later by rewinding the seek bar thingo.
