    List Mgmt. JED ANDERSON.....NO MORE?

Is it possible to trade Jed for a guaranteed early pick in next year's "super" draft?

Whats the case for Mitchell our greatest ever centreman ?

Mitchell is our best centreman in my view, although I never saw Bohan. Best Hawthorn players? Matthews, Dunstall, Hudson, Franklin then a blanket over Platten-Mitchell-Brereton then another blanket over Tuck-Knights-Hodge-Mew. Mitchell could move higher because he's still playing and is only...

    our best team ever

Dunstall slow? You've got to be kidding. It was his speed that made him so dynamic. No stamina, but plenty of speed. And we're talking Matthews at his peak.

    our best team ever

Kelvin Moore made Hawthorn's Team of The Century as full-back and, in my view, deserved to. Langford was named on the bench. Perhaps Langford does get in ahead of Gibson, but I'm of the view that Gibson is an outstanding player who has had to play on bigger men for much of his time at Hawthorn...

    our best team ever

If you sit down and pick the best Hawthorn team ever - as one does at this time of year when nothing much is happening - how many current day players get a game? I reckon Gibbo is now worthy of a spot in defence. I saw Kennedy, Collins, Parkin, Langford etc and I reckon he's better than them...

Analysis Training Watch - Off Season

I've heard of Taylor Hunt and Taylor Walker. Who does Taylor Swift play for? And have you heard the Crows look like making Walker their next captain. Almost certain that Danger will now be returning to Victoria in 2016. Let's hope he, like Gunston, Lake and Frawley, chooses Hawthorn.

Competitions Best Hawk Half Forward Flanker Ever

Graham Arthur Buddy Bucky John Kennedy Jnr - almost a goal a game and played plenty in defence.

    Buddy for skipper

Does anyone think that Buddy could be Hawthorn captain in 2014? Consider this. Hodgey is battle-scarred and getting on. Buddy is out of contract. Perhaps offering Buddy the captaincy might make up for the difference in salary between what we can pay him and somebody else. He seemed to mature...

    Bradley Hill

How do we rate this bloke? Without Clinton Young, it seems to me that we'll need his kid's outside run, but is he good, really good or just a list-filler? There's not much of him, but he seemed to show a bit in his five games last year.

    Spies required

Where have our training spies gone? Surely not all our sessions are behind closed doors. I'd like to know if Bailey's on the track, is Gilham training, how does Birchall look, is Hodge moving freely....? But nothing. I'd go myself, but life's too short to watch training.

National Draft - Pick 53 - Welcome Alex Woodward

The "experts" will tell you this kid had no upside and no tricks. Well, I've seen him play a few times and give me a player who's hard at it, has clean skills in traffic and is a better than average kick, and I'll take him every day ahead of "an ahlete with potential".

    Potential father-sons watch thread

A bit of good news Here's some long-term good news... Paul Dear' son, Harry, kicked six goals and was BOG in an interleague game on the weekend playing for the MSJFL under 15 side.. The kid's tall and plays for Beaumaris.

    Review Xavier Ellis, time up?

I'd prefer Ellis to Lewis and Ladson. I just think he needs to be shown some faith from the coach and left in the team for a few games to get his confidence. I'd play him as a kick-behind-play on-baller because I think, when he's playing well, his decision-making is crucial.

Roughy to backline - lets have a poll

I can't see us winning the flag with our current backline. It simply lacks a big body. Send Roughie down back and push Hodge forward. And perhaps try Schoenmakers up forward for two or three weeks. Let's start planning to beat Collingwood in September, because we'll have to to win the flag, and...

    Buddy or Bucky?

How far is Buddy away from our Team of the Century? He won't replace Dunstall, Hudson or Platten, nor Arthur and Brereton, but he must be closing in on Bucky. Bucky played 154 games and kicked 293 goals and was described by Allan Jeans as Hawthorn's best big game player, but was he better than...

    Competition for spots 1 - small/medium forwards

What about Bateman as a forward? It's about time we looked to give his body a bit of a respite. Got pace, can kick. Leave the younger kids to play tagger.

    Thorp

For those of you who follow the VFL closely, has Mitch Thorp done enough to suggest somebody might re-draft him?

Team of the Century plus a bit

If you had to pick a Hawthorn Team of the Century now, who'd come in to replace those currently named? For example, would Hodgey or Mitchell get in ahead of Jim Bohan, Brendan Edwards, Dipper or Ian Law? Would Buddy push Buckenara off a forward flank? Was Crawf better than Ian Law or...

    Is Sheahan right?

I'm not talking about the additions to our list. I'm looking at players who actually improved and, in particular, young kids who improved. I'm not talking about Gibson, Burgoyne or Skipper. I'm looking for evidence that our current crop of teachers can actually teach.

    Is Sheahan right?

In Mike Sheahan's review of the Hawks, he said last week that nobody on the list had improved and that Stratton was the only bloke to advance in 2010. It seemed harsh, but, looking at things, I think he's right, and that's an indictment. Forget our A-graders for a minute, because they...

    Jack Gunston

He was very clever through the under 10s, 11s and 12s, but he didn't grow much, so settled into a role as a small forward in what was a pretty strong junior team. He then started to grow and went to Haileybury College where he played some good footy, I think as a centre half-forward. Played...

    Jack Gunston

Having had a son who played his junior footy with Jack Gunston at Beaumaris, can somebody tell me how he's going?

"Questions that don't warrant a thread" thread

I knew Josh Giobson was good, but... Here's the Hawthorn team as posted today on the club's official website. Gibson must be very handy. B: Birchall, Gibson, Murphy HB: Guerra, Gibson, Ladson C: Lewis, Mitchell, Ellis HF: Osborne, Schoenmakers, Hooper F: Morton, Roughead, Brown FOLL: Renouf...

    Grant Birchall

I don't know what the rest of you think, but I reckon it's about time Birch took on a heavier workload and moved to CHB. The club says he's 193cms. Barry Hall's 194cms, Jonathan Brown 195cms, so that makes him tall enough to play on the power forwards, and he should now be strong enough and...

Matthew Lloyd: What did we think his commentary?

What did we think of Matty Lloyd's commentary? I couldn't believe how glowing and knowledgeable he was of the Hawks.

The Cats announced today that Kane Tenace, Dan McKenna, Scott Simpson, Adam Donohue and Bryn Weadon will not be back for the 2010 season. Should we be interested?
