First time I felt like we had 'rushed' a player back all season.. and it looks to have gone pear shaped.

Hopefully he will get it right before finals. Really need him on the HB line if we are to make waves in September.

lets just keep the glass half full. opportunity for winders to run off Half back aint too bad. But christ it would be nice in one season to say we have fielded a full strength side. Just friggin once

Essendon defender Michael Hibberd will miss the next two to three weeks of football after suffering a minor strain to his hamstring.

Scans revealed the strain, suffered by the 24-year-old defender during the round 18 win over the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said the minor nature of the strain allowed Hibberd to play on during the match.

“Michael tightened up in his hamstring against the Bulldogs and unfortunately he has a low hamstring with a minor tear," Reid said.

“Because it is low in the hamstring then it allows him to play on which he did for a quarter before he tightened up.”

“He is probably going to miss two to three weeks.”

Was limping a long time before the sub was made, from at least early in the 3rd, possibly even late in the 2nd. Could not understand at the time why Howlett was subbed over Hibberd (given he was not only god awful but injured also). Now that I know it is a hammy, I'm even more perplexed?

Why would you persist with a guy who is stinking it up, has a hamstring injury, a long history of soft tissue injuries, was playing in a position for which we had good cover on that particular day and is normally one of our most important players (any other day of the year but that one)?

I thought it was a one week injury which we gave him two for? Didn't sound like he was rushed back at all.

It was a 3 week injury.. and we gave him 2.. plus he didn't come in as sub etc.. He looked sore and I think his play reflected that he wasn't 100%...

Again.. it is probably unrelated.. but I just felt like he was probably brought back one week too early.. probably the same as Dempsey earlier in the season..
