Dangerous looking forward line, based on that I also assume (hope) Lids is playing more midfield again, with stints forward.

So this raises a question. Is Lloyd best 22 or just very handy backup? Lennon is likely capable of just as many goals per game but has more size, tools and likely way more potential. However apparently Lloyd has really upped his running this pre-season.
So what do we do with him? I don't know that both Lloyd and Lennon play in the same 22 and for me I'd have Lennon. Though.. maybe Lloyd gets the nod over Rioli for now, we know nothing about what Daniel is capable of.

Lloyd is a natural goal kicker. A perfect fwd pocket who can mark and also play small. He can easily kick u 2-3 goals a game. What more do u want from a FP. I'd take 2-3 every day!
Lennon HF. Mobile and is a great lead and mark player. Very strong hands as he showed in that wet game. Great kick delivery into the fwd line also.
There is def a spot for both !!
Dusty cotch and lids rotating with these these two (when they have a spell). Opposition won't know who to tag, where to look.....that's some fwd setup!!

Lloyd is nothing more than a bit part fill in type footballer. That's why he was used as a sub so much. Majority of his goals are cheap when the game is dusted. If he is a regular in our side, then we are going nowhere. His stats do not stack up enough to rate him as a quality footballer.

When discussing stats just keep in mind a fully fit Yarran didn't reach double figures in a VFL game.

That's praising him up. List clogger is a more apt description.
Nah he's good but he will never be elite. Though that depends how you rate elite. If 2 or 3 goals a game isnt elite then its bloody close.

But anyway I reckon better players will go past him and Lennon has much more upside. But with improved running Lloyd is great depth now at the least.

Like his 3 first quarter goals against Collingwood?

Hard to kick goals in the first half at all, when the game's in the balance, if you're stuck on the bench in a green vest.

The club made it known from the start that Sam's fitness needed a LOT of improvement. He may not have even played without the sub rule in place.

Lloyd doesn't get enough of the ball

Yarran was drafted as a forward specialist for Swan Districts - what that boy did with a 50 arc and some space in his draft year was obscenely good.

Some players are born to be tips of the spear, Yarran is such a player. While he was finding his feet with a bit more physicality in the AFL his output wasn't where it was expected to be, Carlton moved him behind the ball.

That's an easy role to play - you do not send elite forward options to the backline when they are finding their way, and if you do, you play them forward once they are comfortable.

Yarran is a classic case of a poor development.

You put Yarran in a forward line with Reiwvoldt, Deledio and another defensive forward and he's a 50 goal a year player.

I expect him to play back but there have been the odd comment from the club about his use forward so I won't be surprised if he didn't get a stint up there at times when suited.

Expect Yaz to switch forward when we're well in control down back.

If he isn't required to use his run off half back then he is better served up forward.

Given his pre season fitness I don't expect him to play much down back too early and see him playing a more forward role until his calf & fitness build. No problem in him debuting in the second half of the season if that's best for him and team. Otherwise we run the risk of him fading late in the year when we may need him most. Softly softly approach I reckon:thumbsu:

So much work to get the filth washed out of him from that a-hole of a club from whence he came.

I can see the correlation with Lids up forward due to his monitored injury but I would have thought Yarran down back was their thinking.

Even so I agree softly softly.
