Matt de Boer (hamstring, 3-5 weeks) the former Docker tore his hamstring at training last week but could be back for round 2-3 of the regular season.

Brett Deledio (calf, 1-2 weeks) the Giants remain hopeful Deledio can play in next week's final JLT Community Series game against North but he's still yet to resume full training.

Jacob Hopper (back soreness, 1-2 weeks) the club's top draft pick in 2015 is being treated conservatively after suffering from stress fractures in his lower back last season.

Others
Star duo Steve Johnson (thumb) and Shane Mumford (elbow) both played in last week's intraclub match and should play in this week's JLT Community Series clash against the Swans.

Good to see no mention of Williams although I can see him dropping off the bench for fridays game

Wilsons the one that interests me most. Not a lot mentioned but he had surgery straight after the PF and did seem to drop off late in the season.

So many unanswered questions and with the majority of the first team playing their first game on friday we should have a better idea then.
I thought Wilson played ok for his first whiteout of the year vs the Eagles and missing Shaw would have placed more leadership on him.

What was the surgery for?

He was battling groin soreness during the back half of last season. Started in July, and then really struggled on return before being dropped. So must admit I assumed he had a procedure to help that.

Think he's an important player. My fingers crossed. Groin soreness common and often chronic.

GIANTS vice-captain Stephen Coniglio will be sidelined for six weeks due to a sindesmosis injury.

The midfielder suffered the high ankle injury in the third term of the JLT Community Series match against North Melbourne at UNSW Canberra Oval on Friday night.

GIANTS Head of Athletic Performance David Joyce said it was an unfortunate setback for Coniglio.

“We’re obviously disappointed for Stephen after he put in a really strong pre-season,” Joyce said.

“He’ll spend the next two weeks in a protective boot and progress from there.

“We’re confident that with the right treatment he’ll be back on the field in a bit over a month.”

In other injury news, defender Aidan Corr will see a hand specialist later today to discuss treatment options.

Corr sat out the final three quarters of the final JLT Community Series match after landing awkwardly.

Scans revealed the 22-year-old didn’t break a bone but suffered an unusual injury to the capsule at the base of his hand.

A decision regarding Corr’s treatment and time on the sidelines will be settled on after the specialist appointment.

Meanwhile, forward Steve Johnson didn’t take to the field after quarter time due to a concussion suffered in a clash of heads and will be monitored this week.

The veteran goal kicker is expected to be available for Round 1 against Adelaide on Sunday, March 26.

:straining: The seasons challenges are starting early. Just hope the guys heal quickly, and the replacements take their opportunity.

The club will have their options sorted for who takes Cogs role in the mid roles he has. Rather than try and replace him, we may see an understudy step up. We might see Jelly more inside than out for example, or Greene back in the middle.

Toby's been a revelation up front. I wouldn't want to change that.

We should have more than enough depth to cover for Stephen in the midfield.

I have faith in Hopper and Taranto. Better to miss games early.
