INT: Interchange | Interchange | Interchange | Interchange | Tactical Sub

E: Emergency | Emergency | Emergency

Please vote for the four players (regardless of injury) you'd want to be in the Best 22 that hasn't made it already, so no 5th vote for the sub. Also, with 26 players remaining and BigFooty only allowing 25 options, I'm leaving Kye Turner out of the poll.

Voting ends Feb 28th. Happy Voting! :smallfooty:

Hard to justify having Brown coming off the bench. A no no for team structure. Unlucky.

Reckon Harmes, Grundy and Hibbo are best 22. 4th spot really up for grabs. Would like Laurie, Chandler or Howes to challenge Rivers and Sparrow.

Harmes and Grundy are locks.
Went with Chandler and Rivers as the other two. Hoping Riv kicks on and learns to keep his dacks clean under pressure in defence; Hibbo can't keep playing forever.
Chandler I think would add more forward ability while still being able to run through midfield compared to Sparrow/JJ et al. Howes or Laurie other options there. Ideally at least one of them steps up a level this year.

I have gone Harmes and Grundy with confidence then Chandler and Hibberd with little confidence. This team has some good players not getting a game now !

Same 4 for me

I have put Brown on the bench in the hope he cracks it and retires . I think coach will start him in the( Goal) square anyway but I would prefer we give JVR first go and see how he goes .

Sub will be a pretty different role now you can bring them on whenever you want. Probably makes it even more important that it's someone with running power. Can see ANB being in that role regularly, Jordon and Sparrow would be other candidates who don't really seem to have a regular starting 22 spot at this point.

Wouldn't surprise me if one of Gawn or Grundy are the ones subbed off quite often, particularly on any day the two ruckmen isn't working.

Harmes / Rivers / Chandler / Sparrow / ANB would probably be my 5 for bench and sub.

Harmes, Grundy, Jordon, Rivers. Hoping Howes takes JJs spot pretty quickly but think he's more versatile than Sparrow more the moment. Sparrow is my choice of sub. Not convinced by KC yet but I guess he needs games.

And here is the Melbourne BigFooty Board's pre-2023 Beast 22 team:

HF: Charlie Spargo | Tom McDonald | Alex Neal-Bullen
FF: Kysaiah Pickett | Jacob van Rooyen | Bayley Fritsch

OUT FROM 2022: Luke Jackson, Ben Brown, Adam Tomlinson, James Jordon (sub)

Some pretty straightforward swaps in the team from last year. Grundy for Jackson was to be expected, so too Hibberd for Tomlinson, van Rooyen for Brown may not happen immediately (let's see how the pre-season goes), and Jordon is the unlucky one getting replaced by Hunter. I see Chandler getting the sub vest more often than Hibberd but that's just how the votes went.

Thank you for voting either once or in all 4, these things run on activity so it was good to see every thread get 30+ voters. Let's see that level of activity once we get to the 426 hopefully, maybe, probably not, onto the new season!

4 and a sub that can be used anytime. 5 on the bench makes way more sense
The AFL is so funny.

First they bring in the interchange cap to force fatigue back into the game. Then the concussion sub comes in which could restrict the bench even more.
Coaches lobby to have it as a medical sub. Total mess of a rule with completely opaque parameters. Gets turned into a regular sub which negates the point of the interchange cap.

Don't forget that bringing down the interchange cap coincided with getting rid of the regular sub because not a single player, coach, commentator or fan liked it.

With all fit, I reckon this is pretty bang on the money! Hunter, ANB, Spargs, Sparrow, Rivers, JvR all need good starts to the year to keep their spots, I reckon.
