Happens every year at this time of the year. I don't mind it and Hustwaite will get his chance next year, looks a player.Since when have they changed the weekly nom to volume of work instead of the best player for the week?
Hustwaite was clearly better then Johnson

Erasmus hasn’t done much to be honest (doesn’t help that he always sub). Long the most likely from that lotOK so given this weeks nominee will almost certainly certainly be based on output throughout the year, who can we expect to receive the nomination with a decent performance.
Long the front runner from West Coast, followed by Maric.
Erasmus from Freo (is he eligigble)?
Borlase from Crows? Probably hasn't played enough games.
Tsatas from Dons, would need a better than decent game though most likely.

To be fair, Johnson had two weeks through out the year that he had better games than the weekly winner, at least stat wise.Since when have they changed the weekly nom to volume of work instead of the best player for the week?

Eddie Ford from North

The AFLs main aim is to ensure the best performing 23 players eligible that season are nominated.
For us, Tom Emmett was much better than MJ but he was on debut too so he won’t be nominated
Not that pesky Vic Bias again5 - Sheezel
4 - Ashcroft
3 - Amiss
2 - Owies
1 - who cares
Amiss should probably win but Vic bias , not many key position players kick 40+ goals (assuming he gets 2 in the next 2 rounds. Especially coming off a kidney laceration last year robbing us of his first year and severely impairing his physical development.
Wardlaw will be the best of the crop, or Hustwaite.

Absolute nonsense. (About Hurstwaite)

What's amazing is that he'd never played half back in his life, ever. Yet it's where he has predominantly played this year and been very good in a terrible side. Kid is a freak. Was just weird the way you included a little dig at the end of your post at getting "easy" touches off half back, which was designed to downplay Sheezel's season.
The beauty of Sheezel is he's also played a number of different roles. He's been thrown into the middle and won clearances and even impacted games in the forward half (see Swans game and second WC game). He's just also been prolific behind the ball.
The player ratings system may be objective but it’s a *ing s**t systemIt has to be Harry: Why Roos gun should be top of the crop
Cal Twomey assesses the Rising Star contenders and breaks down why Harry Sheezel should be crowned this year's winnerwww.afl.com.au
Awww so Mitchito is basically the highest ranked rising star player ever on the objective player ratings but it’s all about Harry sounds about right

While I agree that Sheezel has performed better than Ashcroft, especially considering his unfortunate injury, the rating system is dumb. Sheezel’s 1.7 clearances is elite while Ashcrofts 3.6 is above average.Robbo: "Sheezel should win the Rising Star"
Gerard: "I think Ashcroft should win it"
* off Gerard!
Not even a contest. Ashcroft rated elite in a total of zero categories
