Welcome to 2024 SuperCoach DRAFT Stars

I hope you enjoyed last season of DRAFT .....any bugs we'll try and iron out via discussion in this thread

That said, we'll be shortening the time between picks to 30 seconds ...feedback was the 1 minute was too long ...so you'll need to prepare

We indicated the two Draft Star Divisions would remain an invitation .....over that, we'll gauge the level of interest in more Divisions

We need a couple of posters to raise their hands as commissioners of both Leagues .....Last year NSWCROW and kyri were kind enough to organise, many thanks ......if we can get more visibility on how the DRAFT Comp is going, finals and winners of the competitions ....we will award Badges to the winners

Participants last season will have 1st right of refusal to participate in 2024 .....and sadly, some posters have left the room, or won't wish to play again, they'll need to be replaced

Grand Finalists of Div 2 Draft Stars will automatically be upgraded to Div 1 .....then next will be the Prelim Finalist teams & so on ...until Div 1 is replenished

Here are last this seasons participants ....please advise if you would like to participate again in 2024

DRAFT RULES

1. Number of Teams per Competition

12 Teams x 15 players ...3-4-1-3 (4)

2. DRAFT NIGHT

TBA - Likely after the first official PS round of games

HUGE appreciation to BuckleysBrigade and Seymour Skinner for their assistance and input ...blame them 🤣

1.Everyone will have a Standard Pre-Draft List, which to start with takes the same order as last year's averages (sexy Macrae being pick 1). If you don't make a selection (computer glitch, timed out), then it will automatically select the next available player on your draft list.

2. Everyone will have a maximum of 30 seconds to make a selection ....failing to make a selection within the 30 seconds, the next player on the pre-draft list will be allocated automatically to your pick

3. Once the draft is done, you can sub your players around as you see fit, but if you want to get rid of anyone then you'll have to trade them out and trade in a free agent.

Remember there's a free agent pool, so once the draft is done, people can ship off the Paddy Dows of the world and reshuffle their team a bit.

OTHER COMMENTS
A.
IMO, if you don't get one of the top top rucks, you may as well wait until later in the draft and grab someone like Draper late. There will still be plenty of good mids (etc.) available - more important to grab those.

B. For draft you need to adopt a different mindset to SC classic. Forget about the speccy players, or grab only one or two of them (and if you do, get them late!). Better to have a solid team crunching out 80s for 22 rounds rather than hoping rookies get a game or someone goes from 50 --> 90 and failing, then being left trying to replace them from the free agent pool.

C. If you have a floating bench, you don't want to be carrying spuds as you'll just cop their sh!te score each week where you need an emergency. It's better to have 2 reasonable players and a couple of non-playing rookies or injured players (who will come back later in the year) provided that you don't run out of players... however, Covid depletions could hurt adopting this tactic.

3. NO Captains

4.
"Floating Bench"
Floating = your worst bench score counts no matter the position, as opposed to only backs being able to replace backs as normal

5. No Round0

6. Random Order Generator

Also we need to review what went right and wrong in last year's comp .....so we can continue to improve the standard & enjoyment of the DRAFT comp

Date of Draft Night? ......is the week after the first official practice matchs OK with everyone ......Thursday FEB 29th ??

Any other suggested changes ....please post your thoughts

In years gone by there have been a few websites/podcasts that offer a paid supercoach pre-draft order. Can someone please point me in the right direction if they still exist?
