25th anniversary of Collingwoods last game at Kardinia park!!!

its a peculiar one given every other side has played down there, including hawks / tigers at their peaks. Tigs last played there in 2017 before getting a pass during our dynasty years. But sure enough we are back there this year after coming down the other side of the hill

can't just be because of a perception Collingwood pull too many fans - they should have been playing their when off field wasn't too flash. Sounds like some head-office back scratching of some variety

It is what it is, a rigged fixture in Collingwood's favour.

The pattern you describe with Richmond is common for large Victorian clubs for obvious reasons. Except one.

It’s crazy they still can’t grasp basic concepts like revenue.

They always go back to the old, “BUUUT BUUUUT yOu AsK tO pLaY uS tHeRe.”

No, we get 9 genuine Home games and get told to pick 2 games that maximise our revenue.

As you said, prior to new stand we’d need 60k at the G to break even, we made TWICE as much playing at full Kardinia.
Now with new Selwood stand and capacity basically at 40k, we’d need at least 80k at the G to break even.

It’s really not that hard but people seem to struggle grasping the concept.

They are not struggling to grasp the concept, they are intentionally delusional about it.

Which is even worse.

Intentionally being obtuse so they can continue to be advantaged. What a pisswesk attitude as a club. At least the real biggest club West Coast travel and play anytime and anywhere.

While Collingwood are Geelong's biggest money earner when playing home games at the G, they will continue to be scheduled there.

What about the smaller vic clubs who have to make the numbers at Kardinia so clubs like Essendon,Collingwood and Carlton never have to play there. is it fair for them? Selfishly I'd love for St Kilda to host all away games against Geelong at Marvel stadium. But the part of me that wants the semblance of a fair league doesn't want that.
Do some homework mate.

We get told we are only getting 9 true home games …

Collingwood are also given 9 true home games (the other 2 played at Marvel, often against Marvel tenants so Collingwood do understand the issue)

I’d imagine most members would be very happy if we played Geelong home games at Kardinia Park if it meant playing 10 home games at the MCG.

We happily play at 25K seat stadiums against GWS and Suns, I don’t see why a 40K seat stadium in Geelong would be a problem.

I think Collingwood and Richmond Marvel home games are also stupid. Collingwood hosting Bulldogs or Richmond hosting St Kilda at Marvel is as unfair as us hosting you mob at the G.
Its not our fault other teams sell their home games around the country but unfairly have to pick up the slack to make sure the AFL meet their contractual obligations

And on the 25th January 2049 it will be 50 years exactly since we last played in Geelong. And that’s the way it should be. It’s no disadvantage for the Cats to play on the MCG, whereas it is a big advantage for them to play at GMHBA.
Translation: You should all have gotten used to our entrenched advantage so why change it?

Collingwood are the most advantaged team in the comp, fixture, third party deals etc. Yet people will bang on about other concessions.

Easy to stay big when you get an armchair ride. The fact they dont win premierships that often is a massive underachivement.

Poor Geelong. They're so hard done by. No other club gets treated like this!

Of course they never bother to mention that all of the MCG tennant clubs are also made to play home games at Marvel Stadium, often against tennant team in Saints, Dogs and North.

Still waiting for an acknowledgement that playing away games against Geelong at the MCG is an advantage. One day perhaps.....

Sure, we are advantaged by it. But it's not like the MCG is foreign to the Cats. They play there 6 times a year.

Do you acknowledge that Collingwood are as equally disadvantaged by being made to play 2 home games at Marvel each year?

Well you almost got there but then came the qualifications and look over there content.

No Collingwood are not equally disadvantaged, but you can start a thread on how the Pies get a raw deal for that.

What people forget is that the MCG teams have no real home ground whereas all the interstate teams and Geelong do. And even the Pies over the past few years have had quite a few graveyard shift games. The point remains though that the blockbusters are generated by crowds turning up, not the names of the teams playing. This year having the slots the Pies have played in has been a disadvantage. They have played with the shortest prep despite it being the longest season and played against the Swans with 2 days less despite starting early in March as part of only 4 games for the round. They then have to back up with another 6 day break so have played 3 games while the majority have played only 1. When it's all said and done it is the player list that contributes more to who wins the most. Teams like Sydney and Brisbane double dipping with academy picks in the 1st round and with access to father/sons too provides the best advantage in the competition. Adelaide and Perth clubs and the Vic clubs can only access academy selections at 40 or above despite have fewer academy kids availalbe to them. It does not matter how much money a club has generated by members, it is the playing list which creates the wins.
Father sons? you happy to give up the Daicos boys?

It’s where the money is, why would the AFL let a little thing like a fair competition get in the way of making money?

Gather Round another example
MCG GF without club consultation another example.

The list is endless. Who cares anymore?

The same flogs who bleat about the smaller clubs not making massive profits I guess

Come the 10th of July it will be 25 years exactly since Collingwood last played a game in Geelong, How many years do you guys think it will be before they play there again? and will it happen before Pendles retires? he might retire with 400+ games none of which played at Kardinia and close to 300 of which played at the MCG.
Lose to the cats in Geelong, immediately look up when the Pies last played there. Absolute salty campaigner. 2010 still pays out. :tearsofjoy:

Of all the ridiculous comments here this is the best. The lack of knowledge of everything that's happened over the past 10 years in the AFL is staggering.
Edit- Are you the young man of limited intelligence I stood next to at the 2022 Qualifying Final, half forward flank, Shane Warne Stand?

We’re not the ones complaining we don’t play at KP?

All these issues can be very easily fixed …

… simply have every team host their home games at their home ground.

You wouldn’t find a Collingwood fan in the land who’d be against it.

Not sure what everyone is complaining about. This year is also the 25th anniversary of Collingwood's last game at their home for 100 years. So much disadvantage for Collingwood

And they are probably just as likely to play a game at Victoria Park in the next 25 years as they are at Kardinia Park
