I can only assume the Channel 7 production team are massive fans of this movie, because it’s exactly how they approach their footy coverage.

When Pendlebury claimed the record for most possessions the other week they became fixated with the scoreboard. As Collingwood worked their way out of defence they showed footage of it after each mark – not long enough to read what was on the scoreboard, just so you knew it was there.

When the ball went towards the 50 with seconds to go in the Demons v Lions game last Friday, two players wrestled the mark. Wanna see it? Yeah nah, here’s the crowd instead. Wanna see a replay? Yeah nah, later.

When the Tigers' Bauer injured himself playing against Sydney last week the game took a back seat. Two players going for the footy? Yeah nah, here’s footage of Bauer instead. Look he’s limping slightly. Sydney with the ball kicking into their attacking 50? Yeah nah, here’s Bauer again, look he’s on the bench! Sydney celebrating kicking the first goal of the game? Yeah nah, how about some more Bauer? A replay of Sydney’s first goal? Yeah nah, here’s Bauer injuring himself. Sorry Sydney fans, Richmond is doing something.

Either the team at Channel 7 need to learn to wait for a stoppage to show stuff off the ball, or get the picture in picture tool Fox uses, cause what they’re doing ain’t working.
