Free agents for this year

Jack Gunston
Daniel Howe
Ben McEvoy
Liam Shiels
James Sicily
Kyle Hartigan

Expect gunston to retire
Mcevoy may retire, or at least reduce his wage, seems the type to do so

Expect shiels to seek a Isaac Smith free agency type deal
Sicily may explore his options, but think he'll stay

Hartigan will stay unless DGB has a breakout year

Howe will have offers

This is not the thread for such discussion.

They're contracts aren't they?

You’d be better posting it in the list management thread - this thread is used purely to announce contract details not broader list management.

Sicily for five more years to 2027

Really hope he gets to see some solid finals action in that time, not sure he has played a final at us yet as he was injured in 2018. Might have snuck 1 in 2016 from memory.

Two more years for Breust (essentially adding a year onto his current contract, to the end of 2024).

There it is... Punky we the hawthorn faithful salute and love you. You have stayed true to us. Thank you for giving us so much and I look forward to watching your greatness in the brown and gold continue. Love you punk

The Hun just put up something with the contract status of all hawks players. Only place it differs from Dixie’s list is that O’hara has a contract with next year in it.

32. Fionn O’Hara
Age: 20 | Games: 0 | Status: Contracted until end of 2023

Joined the Hawks as an international Category B rookie last year, but did not make a senior appearance in 2022. Has a background in rugby union and Gaelic football.

EDIT: parsing out the Herald Sun's full list, it is as follows:
2022 Jack Gunston, Tyler Brockman, Emerson Jeka, Seamus Mitchell, Jack Saunders
2023 James Blanck, Lachlan Bramble, Sam Butler, Will Day, Jarman Impey, Jacob Koschitzke, Ned Long, Max Lynch, Connor Macdonald, Finn Maginness, Tom Mitchell, Dylan Moore, Josh Morris, Jai Newcombe, Fionn O’Hara, Jaeger O’Meara, Max Ramsden, Ned Reeves, Jai Serong, Josh Ward, Chad Wingard, James Worpel

Officially add another year to Jeka and Brockman.

Unofficially, Gunston at this point is off to the Lions and Seamus/Saunders are the ones left playing to see if there's still a chair for them when the music stops after trade week.

Not totally sure if this is the correct place to put this but the last time I saw it, the list management thread was locked so I think it's at least the most appropriate. Mods - if you'd rather me put this somewhere else please pm me as I don't always monitor threads constantly

ANYWAY - I'm bringing this back again so here is the first look at our overall list (including the contract situation, therefore being thread-appropriate  ) for next year. I have just made all the changes from last year's version and there is always a chance I have made a mistake so if you could let me know of any that you spot that would be good. The thing I am least sure about is whether Bramble or Newcombe have been/will be officially moved to the senior list at some point? As you can see, for the purpose of this I have already included Karl Amon despite the paperwork still needing to technically go through on Friday.

The most striking thing is how young and inexperienced our list will be - and that may be furthered if Mitchell ends up leaving. We might go into next season with something like 34 players 18-24 and 8 players 25+ (and those 8 will be 32, 29, 29, 29, 28, 27, 27, 26 for round 1) although I guess there is always the chance of us drafting or trading in additional older players that we don't know about yet.

Assuming I have this correct currently, we have 6-7 open senior spots and 0-1 open rookie spot and will need to acquire 5-7 players via trades, FA, national draft, rookie draft or re-signing OOC players. If there are free spots (i.e. we only acquire 5 or 6 OR acquire 7 but have an early retirement/LTI) then we may sign someone via SSP on the eve of the season and/or fill any remaining spots in the MSD... Obviously those numbers bump up by 1 if we do trade Mitchell or any other player.
