Black at Noble
WHAT a coup for Noble Park.

The Bulls and Heath Black will this week sign off on a deal that will bring the former St Kilda and Fremantle left-footer to the Pat Wright Senior Oval in 2009.
President Kevin Wright met Black, 29, at the Vale Hotel last Monday.
"It's basically a done deal. We're over the moon," Wright bubbled last Friday.
"We shook hands on it and in the next few days I'll send him over the paperwork for him to sign.
"He was always keen. We just needed to go over a few figures. We did that and it's all go."
Black's brother, Dean Kelly, joined Noble this year.
Black, who came through the Oakleigh Chargers, will bring to the Bulls the experience of 192 AFL games, starting at Freo in 1997. He had a stint with the Saints from 2001-2003 before being traded back to the WA club.
His career highlights included a second finish in Fremantle's 2001 best fairest and playing in the International Rules series in 2005.
The 2008 AFL Media Guide said of Black: "The hard-running left-footed midfielder had another fine season in 2007, despite a suspension and a hip injury.
"Was equal ninth in the best and fairest and fifth for the Dockers for kicks. He also had 56 rebounds from defence and his value to the Dockers cannot be over-estimated as he wins the hard ball and provides plenty of run."
Black was contracted for next season but his battle with injuries restricted him to six games this year and prompted his retirement.
His arrival means there will be two Heath Blacks at Noble: the other is the key forward recruited from Ormond in 2004.
Meanwhile Noble Park this week begins interviews for its vacant coaching positions.
There were seven applicants for the seniors, four for the reserves and three for the Under 18s.
But Wright said it was possible the Bulls would go head-hunting for a replacement for Kris Barlow, who stood down after the preliminary final loss to Balwyn.

Was always on the cards. Speaking to a few Noble blokes during the year and last Friday night at Chandler Medal night, it appears that Black, at this stage, will play about 12 games throughout the year due to commitments with both Channel Seven Perth (where he works) and the Dockers (as he retired with a year left on his contract, and will be doing promotional work to recoup the $$$).

Is half-brother to Dean and Tim Kelly, which is the attraction

have not read it anywhere on here so thought I would mention that a meeting is being held to decide on the addition of Canterbury to Div 4 next year. They will be coming over from SFL div 3 if allowed.

Canty would be a welcome and long-overdue addition.

I couldn't work out why Canty, North Kew and Balwyn didn't move over when Balwyn Combined moved eastwards and spent their ill-fated year in the then-EDFL.

Geographically, none of these clubs should have been in the SFL all the time they have.

There is a rumour that Scotty West is on the brink of signing with Balwyn

Jeffrey Farmer is in talks for a potential move to Balwyn next season

Allegedly, Balwyn are going to make a big play for Gary Ablett Snr to come out of retirement and play half of 2008 (including finals) next season.

There is a rumour that Scotty West is on the brink of signing with Balwyn

the only rumour circulating about Balwyn is that THE major backer cannot contribute as the major sponsor of the club as he has taken a bath on a deal and the stock market in the 10's of millions. Also looking to offload some percentage of a soccer club. either way wont break him but has got to hurt a bit.
Dont be surprised if a few leave Balwyn as $$$ may be a bit tighter next year.

I was at the Noble Park footy club last night for a meal and happened to see Alan Ezard roaming about the place, around the ground in the change rooms through the social club then went up stairs with the president. Would be a handy coach for the bulls next season.

He's a nice little bloke, all 5ft5 of him. Would be a fantastic addition to the Noble Park coaching staff.

Matt Robbins has spoken to Vermont about playing there next year after winning a premiership with Ormond in the VAFA.

There is talk that Shane Harvey will be in the Nunawading Lions colours in 2009
