Hi,
I’m completely confused by child support, child care rebate etc. Currently going through a divorce, fairly amicable and want to do the right thing by my kids.
One of my kids is still at daycare, and currently my wife is paying for this and claiming child care rebate. I feel I should be paying a share of this but it’s not clear to me if childcare liability is included in the child support assessment.
My wife earns more than me and current care is 60/40, I’m the 40%. She stupidly put in a child support claim which now says she owes me about $300 a month which she isn’t happy about.
Question is should I be paying the daycare costs for my 40% and then claiming back my own rebate or has that already been taken into account when assessing she ‘owes’ me $300.
I want to do the right thing but also not get screwed over.

childcare rebate is applied to the fees owed before payment is made

$155 a daily fee and then the reduction is applied before payment is required

Not sure if that helps or not though
