unless you have coeliac diease or a similar intolerance then there is absolutely no reason to remove gluten from your diet. none.

Reason: It made me feel a hell of a lot better both physically and mentally.

I'd say that's a good enough to classify as a reason.

for all you know you may have an undiagnosed sensitivity to gluten which i already referred to. im glad everything has worked out for you but it's not evidence of anything re gluten.

Been tested four times since I was 15 for gluten and lactose intolerance and sensitivity (recommendation from a specialist), wouldn't I know by now?

you'd think so. if it has been categorically ruled out, then i suspect your cause for feeling super healthy has nothing to do with removing gluten from your diet. it's fine you believe otherwise, and i wouldn't attempt to try and change your mind, i am really just talking about the existing research on the topic.

Fair enough, there just weren't any other factors that could've contributed at the time. The elimination processes I did for dairy products and gluten lasted 3-4 months, three for dairy products (including soy) and twice for gluten (aso including soy), no other lifestyle changes were made. I guess I could've had study load increasing stress as a factor, but it varied too much.

Not saying it's a rule that people shouldn't eat gluten, I still do now in small amounts , but from a health point of view it's an unnecessary protein that could be easily replaced with something nutritious.

Same. Have noticed aslight difference when going without food like bread and pasta and then having a lot of those types of food I feel like sh*&the next day. I figure if I need a carb injection there are better sources such as vegies, rice, even chocolate if desperate.

Dairy I'm not convinced either way. Still have some, definitely not convinced its a super healthy food but nor am I convinced of the need for total withdrawal. Never noticed a difference either way.
 
I'm lactose intolerant. The things i used to eat have been dramatically cut back to the point of not actually buying them. I avoid all take away shops because the point is there are chemicals that disagree with me in those foods.
I also eat a lot of rice dishes that i often cook up myself.
I will make my own pizzas rather than forking out money to get something that has msg through it.
Here's my advice cut back on take away foods especially fast food, and pastries and cakes. Make your own lunch that consists of things you can eat without making you feel sick.

Except instead of changing your diet like what she has said. I said eliminate the crap that you usually eat out of your current diet. It works because if you have stopped buying your lunch and start eating healthy foods you won't have to worry about buying crap foods that give you the runs or simply makes you feel like shit.

Implying we were eating crap foods and suddenly jumped to gluten free? What you said is correct, but if it was in response to what nicky said then it doesn't really apply.

I never got take away, made all my own food, followed the healthy food pyramid and counted every calorie and macronutrient. Was it enough to make me healthy and feel great? At the time I thought so, after altering my diet, I now realise I was incorrect.

Again, I'm not saying it's a rule or anything, but she has a point. Everyone has their own goals for health and wellbeing, perhaps nicky just wants to take it more seriously than others.

That's the genius of it. Call it "deconstructed" soup and hipsters will be all over it*


* Except for the croutons. Wheat isn't a necessity is any diet - it's a treat.
