Great career and achievements.

But wouldn't be fit to shine Silvagni's boots, you can't be the best FB ever if you aren't playing on the best opposition forwards.

as original a thought as Selwood ducks for free kicks ........

new material please

and you know that someone will post the video of the Milburn hit on silvani

Actually now that his career is done and dusted it's the perfect time to compare them.

Good on them.

yes indeed, there's never been that comparison made on the Bay before ...

Hur Hur Hur....

Darren Milburn's bitch played in an era when you could scrag, hold jumpers, punch blokes in the back of the head, not run too much, knock the footy out of bounds from wherever you were, rush behinds regardless of pressure.

Meanwhile, the greatest defender of all time had to play in an era of soft frees to forwards, no holding anything, no punching (except for Frodo which was ******* epic), you had to be a rebounder and run run run, not let the ball go out, no rush behinds.

Backs that are ahead of Softvagni... Tilt Carter, Langford, Shoenmakers, Lake, Teddy Richards, Glass, Rutton, Leppitch, Fletcher, Barry.

Feel free to add to the list of backmen better than Silvagni. Pretty much every KP backman in the last 10 years, Carltanks losers included.

It's in reply to a bunch of twits on the MB claiming him as the best FB ever, but I don't post there because they're all brain dead trolls.

:D:thumbsu:

Also, when you say "Carlton losers included", does that mean Bret Thornton too?

SOS was a tough nut and could take it just as good as he dished out. I didn't see any of these back of the head punches when he was making Ablett his plaything. Not sure what these rule changes have to do with the comparison between SOS and Scarlo.

How does this affect Scarlett? He played on the opposition's 3rd string forward/as a loose man.

I couldn't of said it better myself, particularly the bolded.

There is no comparison.

I still can't decide which of Silvagni or Scarlett was more chronically overrated by the idiots in the media and the mentally-challenged AA selectors. Let's just say that when you vote Harry O'Brien AA honors the award tends to lose much of its credibility.

Chris Langford over both, thanks.

He also played in an era with some properly good key forwards.
All those rules were changed because key forwards became too s**t to compete (hence why these rules aren't paid for the good forwards even now...)

If this wasn't the case, Scarlett would not have been anywhere near as good at rebounding, the only area of the game people give the nod to him against SoS over.

I'd say the answer is Cyril Rioli.

Exactly. Can you even imagine a weedy runt like Scarlett trying to out body Lockett? Plugger would've kicked 15+ on him each and every time.

Scarlett managed to outdo Lloyd, Fevola zand Buddy who are all similar bodies to plugger.
