Sources say he is gone. Looked cooked for most of the season. Wonder how long he has known?

Gee it must be a tough industry for all concerned at this time of the year. The coach builds relationships with his players and then delists young men for whom their dreams and aspirations are about playing AFL at the highest level. It must be tough on the other players as well. Must be one of the worst aspects of being a senior coach.

Yeah, I hate it.

Glad I'll never be in the position of having to tell a hopeful that it's all over

Brisbane begins annual Lion cull
THE Lions have begun their annual delistings, with Ryan Harwood the most experienced player to be informed his contract would not be renewed.

Senior listed players Jarrad Jansen, Jonathan Freeman, Josh Clayton and rookie Blake Grewar have also been cut.

Queenslander Freeman was the first graduate of the Lions academy to make it onto the senior list, and managed 14 AFL games, but was overtaken by fellow key forwards Eric Hipwood, Michael Close and Josh Schache. Grewar, Jansen, Clayton and Freeman all played in the Lions’ NEAFL grand final win over the Sydney Swans on Saturday night.

Lions general manager of football operations David Noble thanked the players for their service. “This time of the season is always difficult, especially when you have to let good people go,’’ Noble said.

Lions axe free agent among five delistings
THE BRISBANE Lions have delisted five players, including experienced defender Ryan Harwood and key forward Jono Freeman.

Freeman was the first member of the Lions' academy to be drafted to the club's senior list, but like Harwood, has been cruelled by injuries. The 23-year-old played just 14 games over his four seasons, kicking 16 goals, including four in his second game against Collingwood at the MCG in 2014. Freeman has not played a senior match since round 11, 2016.
