Dr Turf (SEN) commented the other day that he heard that Mike Sheahan will not be "On the Couch" next year.......his place to be taken by someone who has taken the sporting media by storm this year........Michael Voss.

His brilliance shines through, no matter what he does......but will be interesting to see if this scenario unfolds.

I'd also like him to join a number of selection committee's e.g. All-Australian, Rising Star etc. About time there was some Queensland representation on those committee's.

good on him ! but port ? anyway he has a good midfield to work with , should do well

Yeah a good get....When Port get to the big dance...What a difference a 3 times premiership captain and midfield leader.. mentoring and coaching them will make.

Michael Voss arrives at Port Adelaide to help turn premiership promise into reality

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas this week announced Voss as the Power’s successor to behind-the-scenes mentor Phil Walsh, who jumped the divide to take Adelaide’s senior role, with restrained excitement.

But in 2014 Voss gained fresh currency with his role as an analyst at Fox Footy, where his mid-game and post-game reviews with David King offered viewers rare insight to patterns and tactics. His role as head coach on AFL reality show The Recruit also helped to rebuild his coaching stocks. Yet, as recently as last month, as Adelaide began its search for a new coach after the sensational sacking of Brenton Sanderson, Voss said he had no intention to desert his media commitments for a second stint in the box. But on Open Mike, in April, Voss admitted that while he didn’t have an answer to whether he would coach again, the pull to return to “club-land” remained strong. Fast forward six months and when the Power came knocking, Voss’s answer was “yes”, to serve as Ken Hinkley’s right-hand man as Port Adelaide seeks to turn premiership potential into reality.

Trevena said despite Voss’s experience as a senior coach he would have no problem serving a secondary role behind Hinkley. “I think he’s a guy who will adapt to that,” Trevena said. “He’ll definitely be strong in his opinions, because he has been a senior coach. “He’s the type of guy who will be strong on how he wants to go about it. “He’ll have a structure and perhaps have to adapt some of his thoughts to the way Kenny goes about it and how it fits with Port’s structure. “And the other good thing is that you just don’t have the scrutiny on you as an assistant that you do as a head coach. You don’t have the cameras on you looking for that response. “But his knowledge of the game is exceptional, he understands the game really well. He communicates with the players really well and likes to teach and educate the players how to improve.

Seven, Fox Footy chase Jonathan Brown

Michael Voss's decision to rejoin the coaching ranks with Port Adelaide has opened a vacancy at Fox Footy. In addition to his commentary roles, Voss had been mooted as a replacement for retiring journalist Mike Sheahan on the network's flagship Monday-night review show, On the Couch, but network chiefs are now assessing other options. SEN radio is also seeking a high-profile replacement for Voss.

Former Lions skipper Michael Voss continues to cut real estate ties with Brisbane
Former Brisbane Lions great Michael Voss is forging ahead with offloading his Brisbane real estate, placing a vacant block of land at Mount Gravatt East on the market.

Voss, who joined the Port Adelaide Football club as midfield coach in 2014, has made the permanent move to South Australia with his wife, Donna, and their three children.

Earlier this year the triple premiership captain and Brownlow medallist sold his sprawling family home at Marriott Street, Coorparoo, for $2,575,000. Known as “Nu Haven”, the single-level corner residence situated in one of Coorparoo’s most sought-after pockets was the most expensive property sold in Brisbane that week.

Now he’s listed a vacant hill top 1138 square metre block of land at Panorama Place, which selling agent Piers Crawford, of Ray White Holland Park, cites as one of Mount Gravatt East’s iconic addresses.

“It’s the best street in Mount Gravatt East and this is a highly prized front row position,” he says.

Interest in the already subdivided block, located about 8 kilometres from the CBD, has been strong after only one week on the market, Mr Crawford says.

“We’ve had interest from buyers looking to build two houses but just as much interest from buyers wanting to build one big house. The prestige of the street means that’s feasible here,” he says.

The block is positioned at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac backing onto private bushland in a street with northeast views that span over Mount Thompson and out to the bayside.

The block has recently been split into two parcels of land by Voss — one 450 square metres and one 688 square metres — but it’s being sold as one plot and will go to auction on site, Saturday August 18, at 1pm.

Voss bought the block of land during his tenure as captain and when the Lions won three straight premierships in the early 2000s. He paid $235,000 and was living in another property nearby at Mount Gravatt East at the time.

Domain reports the median price for a three bedroom house in Mount Gravatt East is $590,000.
