Couple of things I noticed watching today after watching a couple of players really closely....bearing in mind they were really s**t and made our ball movement out of the back half look good
  • Cotters - HARKER has already mentioned him, but he really has something developable about him, from looking like a “Why??” Rookie pick (other than his running ability), he looks to have come on nicely this year as a linkup player off HB or a wing, definitely a keep for next year
  • Owies - not ready to play him in seniors but certainly worth persevering with as a CatB into 2020 - another pre-season under Russell and we might have one here
  • Lebois - actually played really well today IMO, especially in the first half when we set the game up - maybe its just that I have low expectations from him ATM, would be interested in his stats.
  • GArlett - did a couple of ripping things but generally invisible
  • TDK - did a couple of cracking things but drifted in and out of the game
  • BSOS - developing nicely for a tall, few nice bits of link up play and something to look forward to in next couple of years
  • Polson - like him today, had a decent game and looks like he played mid/fwd. Created several goals for others, but still did some of those scrappy kicks. Leave him on ball in VFL and forget that small fwd stuff, it’s not him. Live or die as an on baller in 2020
  • Fazzy - played well and had a real crack, but he just looks heavy and unfit...unlikely to be retained you’d think
AND then......
  • Stocker.....mmmm....leave him in the VFL pivot for the rest of the year, then another preseason, then look out - genuine clearance mid with good burst, clean hands, dual sided....he is the juice!!!

Any stats available?

Interested to see how Stocker went and Macreadie.

Vfl app will have all you want on that front.
15 disposals for Lebois BTW vs <7 avg per game so far.

Edit: Stocker had 20 disposals, 1 goal and it looks like Macreadie didn’t play...

This weekend: North Melbourne v Northern Blues - Saturday, July 27, 2pm, Arden St
Rookie Matthew Cottrell found plenty of the ball (22 disposals, 13 marks) in the Northern Blues' whopping 75-point win over North Melbourne.
Alex Fasolo hit the scoreboard, kicking three goals from 14 touches and eight marks, while draftee Liam Stocker was also busy with 20, four tackles and a goal.
Former basketballer Matthew Owies kicked a bag of four.

Cottrell did very well yesterday and I don't recall a game this year where he hasn't shown something, irrespective of possession count.
Owies also makes for an intriguing prospect. Really knows how to make space, is quite tough and not a bad kick for goal.
Would be great to finally nail a couple of long-range rookies and both of these guys have the right attributes to make good. Long way to go though.

Stocker - Just looks like an AFL quality player. Probably did from day 1. We have a good one here.

4 straight for Owies. Different story last week however (1.3 IIRC) - output varies considerably when they’re slotted through.

A big pre-season away from testing the waters in the seniors for Cottrell & Owies??
Whilst hopefully Stocker’s a permanent fixture in the midfield?

Thoughts on Frank Anderson’s game, Harks?
Named best on for NB’s, including a couple of goals.

Sam Fisher also had the most possessions but a lot of handballs in amongst.

Dom Tyson - Calf - test
Taylor Garner - Club suspension - Available
Aaron Hall – Personal Leave - Indefinite
Ben Jacobs - Head/neck – Season
Luke McDonald – fractured fibula – Season
Tom McKenzie – Back - TBC
Bailey Scott – Foot – Indefinite
Scott Thompson - Ruptured testi - Test
Kyron Hayden – Achilles - Season
Will Walker - Knee – TBC
Ed Vickers-Willis - Knee – Season

I suspect North have a few players playing under duress, plus some deadwood and underdeveloped players sitting in their VFL side.

We we have almost as many injuries and MORE missing from our best 22, and better players than that list from North Melbourne.

Our VFL team didn't even have the likes of Deluca/Kennedy/Lang.

Amazing signs to win by so much...just like the AFL team, it's about the spirit and new game plan/system we're playing with, which then brings enthusiasm and confidence from the players.

Had a good game obviously. Plenty of midfield minutes and provided grunt work.
I have no idea as to why he's missed a chunk of the season. Injury, I assume, but no facts to back that up.

Overall, the collective played as....a team and linked up well and simply took the game on, on most occasions.
It's almost as though Teague coached them yesterday.

If you look again at the list, you'll see their contested mids and defensive unit are utterly decimated.

In: Cuningham, Deluca, Dow, Goddard, Macreadie, Newman, O’Dwyer

Didn't even realise Macreadie was missing last week. Hopefully he finishes the season strongly, because he should have everything going for him beyond form.
