Lots of convicts near Strahan, he's been branded.

I thought he would do a Lance Franklin and embrace his true nationality.

Maybe he can't remember his name?? :cool:
Simple misunderstanding from something his mum told him about not losing new shirts.

Won't be getting much ink done ATM given the tickets he copped this morning.

Traffic violations.

My mate booked him, and he's a Tiges supporter (didn't know who he was but called me to confirm such a player played for the Blues), didn't go to town on him, but gave him a few tickets...........lucky he wasn't a Collingwood player...........would have brought him in and towed the car.

AJ, if your reading this......get some new tyres mate......you can lash out now you have a two year contract, and we don't need you sliding off the road. :thumbsu::D

The Glenorchy Football Clubs Academy program begun in 2007 aimed at assisting young players at the club with “Senior Potential” to progress through the ranks in the hope of playing senior football with the Magpies or progressing to the states talent pathway. This program was the first of its kind to be run in Tasmania and has now seen many clubs follow suit.

To date the clubs program has seen around 40 participants take part and experience all aspects of Football including:

* Skill Development
* Physical preparation
* Fitness
* AFL Draft testing
* Rehabilitation/ Recovery
* Performance Analysis
* Nutrition

In 2009 the program received a significant boost receiving a cheque as a result of former Glenorchy player Aaron Joseph gaining a NAB Rising Star nomination during the 2009 AFL Season. This money will be used to purchase Guernseys for the participants and help to support costs of running the program. As acknowledgment of Aaron’s fantastic efforts the program will now be known as the AARON JOSPEH FOOTBALL ACADEMY.

The program is delivered by a specific coach from the club however also involves several guest coaches including AFL Tasmania development staff, Glenorchy senior players, and former Glenorchy players playing in the AFL.

Joseph badly rolled his ankle in the final loss to the Brisbane Lions and would not have been available the next week had the Blues progressed. In fact, he spent the next six weeks rehabbing the joint while most of his teammates took a well-earned break.

That one injury cost us dearly in that game. Hooper kicked a vital goal whereas he had been MIA all night (as per AJ's usual job).

Nice read, and hope he kicks it up another gear this year.:thumbsu:

Interested to know how people are finding his form at the moment.

Obviously had a cracking year last year and really hoping he continues to improve this season. I haven't had the impression that he has been overly noticable in the pre-season games...but it is always hard to tell what that means.

I hope he finds the ball in his hands a lot more this year, rather chasing down dangerous opposition players. With blistering pace and MASSIVE nads, I hope he finds himself in the 22.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from.

Very early to call it, but perhaps AJ could be in for a bit of 'second year blues' syndrome this season?

Was absolutely outstanding in 2009, going from a virtual unknown to an entrenched and integral part of our 22. His preseason has been fairly anonymous thus far, but maybe he's just saving all his ammunition for the long-grind of the season, coming off such a torrid year.

Would be a massive win for us if AJ could start to hone the offensive side of his game a little, wherein his opponents will have to start affording him some respect if he damages them the other way. Tagging should and will remain his primary focus, however.

Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if AJ actually finds himself in the 2's on occasion this year, but that shouldn't be the end of the world for such a young player. With improved seasons from Grigg and Robinson forecast and the addition of McLean to the midfield mix, he might just get squeezed out every now and then if his form doesn't remain top-notch.

I am a huge fan of AJ's though and think that he will be a wonderful player for us for many years to come (much to Gaz Junior's chagrin).

An excellent rookie selection from the recruiting team. :thumbsu:

This guy puzzles me....where does he stand in the side?

Has he cemented that back pocket position or is he being groomed to take over Carrazzo's role when he finishes up as a tagger (who needs to work on his offensive side for now)?

Did some brilliant stopping jobs towards the end of the year but had a quite year overall compared to 2009 and I started to notice or focus more on weaknesses.

If Laidler turns out to have nice skills then I'd be very happy to have AJ in the pocket and let him just shut his guy out but if we need Gibbs type in the backline would AJ be the first cut?

He would make a decent forward. He could help lock the ball in with good forward pressure and he can kick a goal. Him and Mitch on the forward flank would probably work out well with the amount of hard work and tackling they do, both of them just need to work on their skills, Mitch more so than Aaron.

AJ should be released up the ground to be a defensive midfielder.

Naturally an attacking player, but can still take the quick and agile players.

Isn't a great kick, but hurts us less if he isn't bringing the ball out the backline.

We need to see more of this from Joseph if he wants to stay around.

Harshly rated by some.

Natural outside midfielder for mine.

Yarran, Murphy, Garlett, Walker, Joseph, Armfield, Lucas, Russell, Judd, Simpson and Buckley all have toe or serious legspeed.

So where does AJ stand?

He isn't in any best 22 sides on our board but still has a lot to offer IMO. He needs to work on his disposal and decision making though.

He's really the forgotten man after two top ten B&F finishes in his first two years. Not a great back man and there are plenty of better options down there now, is a natural midfielder and I don't think we can or will play as many players in negating roles as we used to. I think he'll start off in the VFL as an attacking mid and hopefully force his way into the team, may even be a good option as the sub.
