Past Paul Bower

Started to look good on the weekend, hopefully the MC give him a full game this week. Will be vital come September.

Bower brings a lot to the table

Gives run, mobile. Looks ackward at time, but mostly gets the job done

Big bonus is his strength, one of the strongest at the club. With him in form at CHB & Jamo at FB, that makes a very good backline with Yarran, Duigan & Laidler.

Bower, Laidler & Jamo are mobile enough and good enough to work in tandom to collectively take on forward lines the like of Cloke / Dawes while giving us a mobile backline

The thing is Bower has already shown he is a very good afl footballer. Injuries have set back his career but when (a little optimism please folks) he comes right he is a ready and raring big strong running backman. That's gold right there Jerry.

Keep him, and play him for Chrissake!

Really? Kris Massie the poor man's Andrew Mackie?
That's harsh call on a player who shouldn't have been traded as a 21 year old. Almost as bad the possibility of letting Russell go in 2006 like more than a few Carlton supporters wanted. Huge brain fart on Carlton's part. Massie could play tall and small after lining up on Lucas in one of our best against the odds wins. No worse than some of the medium defenders running around who have won flags and held their spot in a top side.
The club feels he can hold down the other KP post along with Jammo until Watson is ready to take over.
You're the man in the know...
The strong word is that he is about to sign a 2 year deal to keep him at Alberton.

:) :thumbsu:
Will be announced in coming week he has signed on.

We should try keeping Bower and turning him into a attacking wingmen. I would have traded him and Hampson, but looks like them trades won't be that great to snatch a tall key forward. These 2 guys could have big years next year.

Bower's training the house down...

Henderson was smashing it last year, yet broke down, so horse and cart and all that.

B: Duigan Jamison Laidler
HB: Yarran Henderson Russell

Room for Bower?

Bowser could take Duigan's spot if he's fit.

We could see another club make an offer if Bower plays ten games and stays on the park for 22 rounds.

Nothing like a wake up call is there? Hopefully he will be the Walker of 2012.

There's room I reckon. JR into the midfield.:thumbsu:

Bower has been massively underrated by our supporter base. Hopefully he is in our starting line up in defence and we see Yarran transition to a midfield role. Cant see Russell reinventing himself as a midfielder unfortunately. Has got the pace but question marks on his decision making

And here it all ends...as a past buddy I feel some sense of responsibility to wish Paul all the best. There were patches in 2009 and 10 where he looked like becoming a permanent fixture down back for a lot of years, but injury, confidence and form conspired against him.

Can't see him getting another main list gig, but wonder if someone will throw him a rookie list lifeline.

All the best Emu.

It was always going to happen but always sad to see a bloke like Emu get delisted. He was well liked by his team mates and showed a lot of promise early and if he hadn't had that bad run of injuries who knows what he would have become.

Hopefully a club gives him another crack.

Ah no more startled emu winding his way through traffic and into trouble off the half back line. Really showed he could have been anything at one point. All the best Bower Power.

After two years blighted with injury, he finally gets a clean run but his confidence is shot. Needs a year in the lower leagues where he can just concentrate on football without the pressure of a senior career weighing him down. Then we might just see him back somewhere as a mature rookie.

Good luck Emu.

Yep, a shame. Tough tough tough gig making it at AFL level. He was so close. Will slay them at any lower level.

Good luck Paul.

All the best Paul.

Hope he finds a place at another club and plays good footy.

Played his best footy mid-late 2009 - until he collided with Thornton against the kangas.
Struggled with injury for the rest of the season and never really returned to form.

2009 he carried the team with both Jamo and T-Bird out injured.

The club seemed to have this strange desire to turn him into a power CHB to play on the gorilla forwards because of his overall strength. I preferred it when they were playing him as the 3rd tall/rebounding defender type player. Seemed to do a lot of his best work then.

I reckon that if he gets a good run out in the lower leagues somewhere (VFL/WAFL level football) we may just see him getting picked up by one of the lower clubs as a 3rd tall defender. If thats the case, all the best.

As it is, he was a good servant of the club and deserves our thanks.
