I've started to get back into it this year, and I find the reffing to be top-notch.
The hip drop tackles are a over penalised and the odd try not given on bollocks but overall a very well administered game imo

Like the AFL there is a lot of inconsistency with the basic rules, a lot of forward passes are missed, the 6 again rule is used indiscriminately and there is still some inconsistency with head high tackles. I think there has been improvement with the head highs but there a still some being missed because a player is falling or is already on the ground and gets a knee in the back of the head.
