I'm a bit of a Hendrix enthusiast, but not that keen. There's a lot of borderline-obsessives out there, though. The co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen, is one of them.

Doing a bit more reading...they did 21 takes of STP with LSD in the session that produced the master recording, so the YouTube version might be one of those.

My all time favorite psychedelic album is Todd Rudgren - A Wizard a True Star. Circa 1973.

No mention of Frank Zappa ? or Grateful Dead ?

These guys were pioneers.

I agree with the OP some aren't psychedelic at all.
Grateful Dead is an example of musicians on acid playing music which is not necessarily psychedelic music.
